Kellen steps on the floor with a smooth confidence that tells you one thing instantly, the rainmaker is coming. His shooting touch is soft, electric, and dangerous from the moment he crosses half-court. Defenders learn quickly that any daylight is too much daylight because his deep ball cimes off his fingers with rhythm and purpose. What makes him special is how naturally he scores. He has a pure, effortless pull-up, a quick trigger, and a fearless approach that never wavers. There is a quiet toughness in him, the kind that shines through when he attacks space, competes on every possession, and embraces the moment instead of shying away from it. He is already becoming a name that grabs attention because his style is smooth, crafty, and wired to explode in a hurry.
This is his very first high school season and he came out firing like he has been here for years. In his first two games, he scored 16 and 23 points with five three-pointers in each one. Ten total threes in two games is the kind of early statement that turns heads and makes people take notice. Forest Hills Central is 2-0 with Byron Center up next and Kellen is a huge part of that hot start. Shooting and scoring are his biggest strengths, but he is already improving on ball defense, rebounding, and creating his own shots off the dribble. His growth has been fast and his ceiling is rising even faster.
Kellen wants to keep developing his shot creation, finishing ability, and overall athleticism. Getting bigger, faster, and stronger is the mission as he continues building his all-around game. His improvement as a creator and defender stands out, especially considering the adversity he fought through. A broken wrist could have slowed him down, but instead, he trained, rebuilt, and came back sharper with a hunger to prove something. Northern and East Grand Rapids are the matchups he has circled, and he is excited to compete in front of big crowds with his teammates all season long.
Coaches can expect a player who scores the ball, plays hard, and stays locked in no matter what. He fires himself up by hitting big shots and he handles tough moments by falling back on his preparation. The best advice he’s ever received is, "Never stop playing hard and keep shooting". He brings the same competitive fire across sports as the starting quarterback for the FHC JV team and as a football player who loves to compete at every level.
Away from the court Kellen enjoys lifting, fishing, hanging with friends, and keeping himself active. He does not have any offers yet, but he has every intention of playing college basketball and is building the foundation to make that dream a reality.
I assess that Kellen’s shooting ability, confidence, and natural scoring instinct give a program a perimeter spark who can shift momentum instantly. His shot-making stretches defenses, his mindset fuels intensity, and his early production shows the kind of foundation that coaches love in a young guard.
As he grows stronger, sharper off the dribble, and more explosive physically, Kellen is evolving toward becoming one of the most feared shooters in his class. His work ethic, mental toughness, and fearless approach point to a future full of major leaps. Expect him to keep lighting it up, game after game, as he is ooised to become a serious long-term prospect.
