Confidence can change everything, but confidence backed by hard work is what keeps the fire burning. Landan Swann proved that throughout his high school season by turning himself into one of the most dangerous long-range snipers in the state while showing there was much more to his game than just making shots. He finished the regular season averaging 16.6 points and 5 rebounds per game while shooting 40 percent from the field, rained in 83 three-pointers to finish among the top 25 in the state, and built the belief that he belonged in every big moment because of the countless hours he invested behind the scenes. One of his favorite memories came against Caldwell when he exploded for 34 points despite being face-guarded throughout the game, showing patience, toughness, and the confidence to keep attacking no matter how much attention the defense threw his way. Landan credits his coaches for constantly believing in him, and that positive support mixed with the work he put in every day gave him the confidence to carry his momentum straight into the AAU season.

The summer brought an unexpected change when Landan started AAU with another program before making the move to Kentucky Ambition. The decision came because of family circumstances and had nothing to do with basketball, but once he arrived, everything fell into place. Coach O made the transition smooth by communicating well, trusting him from the beginning, and giving him the freedom to play his game. That trust helped Landan settle in quickly, and everything started clicking during a monster live period that reminded everyone exactly what he can do when he is playing with confidence and enjoying the game.

Since his high school season ended, Landan believes the biggest growth in his game has come with his ball-handling and his attitude. Becoming more comfortable with the basketball has opened up more ways for him to attack instead of simply waiting for shots from the perimeter, while his mindset has continued to mature as he understands the importance of staying positive through every high and low. Expanding his game has become a major focus because he wants defenses to respect every part of what he brings instead of just worrying about his shooting.

When the matchup includes highly ranked or well-known names, Landan never changes his approach. He wants their attention, embraces the challenge, and focuses on winning the game instead of getting caught up in reputations. He understands that every possession is another chance to prove himself, and he attacks those moments with confidence instead of hesitation because he believes the only thing that matters is the way you compete once the ball goes up.

Like every athlete, Landan had to battle adversity. After one game, he found himself in a shooting slump that slowly chipped away at his confidence, and it became one of the toughest stretches of his season. Instead of letting frustration take over, he returned to the gym, kept getting shots up, trusted the work he had already put in, and slowly rebuilt his confidence one basket at a time. That experience reminded him that confidence is earned through preparation and that the answer is always more work instead of excuses.

The biggest fuel behind Landan's fire is simple and personal. Not having a college offer drives him every single day, and that frustration has turned into motivation instead of doubt. He steps onto the floor believing every game could be the opportunity that changes everything, so he refuses to waste a possession or take a night off because he knows coaches are always watching.

With one live period still left before his senior season begins, Landan plans to keep showing the hustle, toughness, and versatility he has been working so hard to develop. He wants everyone to see a more complete player who can create with the basketball, defend multiple positions, and impact winning in several different ways while continuing to build on the momentum he created throughout the summer.

Ask Landan what a coach can expect, and his answer goes beyond the stat sheet. He wants to be known as the teammate who constantly communicates, encourages everyone around him, and brings positive energy every time he steps on the floor. He takes pride in defending positions 1 through 5, doing the little things that help teams win, and carrying himself the right way both on and off the court because he understands that trust is earned every single day.

I assess that Landan's ability to stretch the floor immediately grabs attention, but his game continues to grow beyond his outside shooting. His improving handles, willingness to defend multiple positions, competitive mindset, and determination to keep expanding his offensive bag make him an exciting prospect entering his senior season. The chip on his shoulder continues to push him toward becoming a more complete basketball player.

Landan has already shown he can score in big moments, respond after adversity, and thrive after making a difficult transition during the AAU season. As his confidence, decision-making, and all-around game continue to rise, expect him to keep turning heads throughout the final live period and carry that momentum into what has the potential to be a memorable senior season.
