Kylar is a speedy transition maestro who thrives in getting to the basket. Kylar is a strong ball handler and is electric off the bounce and loves to attack that lane and draw contact to get to the foul line. But you can't sleep on him from outside, because with NBA range shooting ability Kylar is an efficient shooter. Kylar flexes his versatility by being a lockdown defender who loves the challenge of guarding the other team's best player and welcomes the challenge to go mono-e-mono.
So far this season, Kylar is averaging 11.7 points while shooting 38% from three. The areas of development Kylar feels he needs to focus on are getting stronger and rebounding more. Kylar's biggest improvement has been his IQ. Kylar's goal for this season is to go play at Rupp Arena. Kylar knows to get there they have to go into every game ready to kill and ready to make a statement.
Kylar's biggest basketball accomplishment is getting to where he is today after all he's been through. Dealing with adversity his whole life, Kylar arrived at this school from a city and school where no one believed in him and considered him a nobody beginning in elementary school and through middle school. Being told they didn’t want him there and he wasn’t needed, they could win without him. This resilient young warrior found a place and team that welcomed him, a place where he could grow and show his potential. and he’s thankful to be where he is. Kylar's goal is to make them remember his name. This sets the stage for the biggest game Kylar is looking forward to—their game vs. Lincoln County, not only their rival school but also the city he came from. This one is personal. A culmination of years of struggle , proving to himself and othersthat is inot just a product of adversity , but a testiment to what can happen when you keep pushing forward. Kylar also believes they can make a deep tournament run if they can get everything figured out and learn how to play together, knowing it will take everybody accepting a role and just wanting to win.
What fires Kylar up the most on the court is the student sections and loud gyms (specifically away games). Having battled through so much adversity, Kylar has learned to try to stay calm and just play basketball. The best advice Kylar has ever been given and is the mindset that carried him through the toughest of days is: "Never quit, always find a way to make things work."
Kylar's resilience is a powerful story of adversity that couldn’t break him as his faith and trust in God anchored him on the nights he was alone in his room, upset, feeling down, stressed, or wondering "why me"? Kylar would just pray, "God, I trust you, lead me down the right path, take me where you want me to be." Over and over again, Kylar knew everything was a part of God's plan for him and was and still is willing to face any challenge he could ever face because he knows one way or another, he will be a success because God is with him. And he also knows without God, nothing is possible. One of Kylar's favorite verses is Mark 9:23 (also on his IG bio), "Jesus said to him, 'If you can believe, all things are possible to him that believes.'" Kylar’s motto is and believes with every fiber of his being, if you have faith, all things are possible. Kylar has learned to let God control your path, and He is going to lead you the right way, whether it's on the court or off the court.
Kylar's interests and hobbies are hanging out with his friends and fellow teammates. Kylar currently has no offers, but he has been to a couple of camps, and while no offers have come yet, he is hoping more colleges take notice of him since he is only a sophomore. As for now, Kylar just keeps playing his game and proving people wrong.
I assess that Kylar’s skills, defense, and resilient will anchored in his faith will certainly get him to his dream. As a sophomore, his stock will only rise with his intense work ethic, continued development, and confidence in himself. This young star is hungry for success and willing to do whatever it takes to have that success, but ultimately knows God is in control and He makes the path for Kylar to walk. He trusts that God alone brought him this far, and this journey ain't over, but just beginning, because with God, all things are possible.
