"Above the Rim with a Fire on Defense"

6'4, Class of 2027
Airen brings a physical, athletic presence that can be felt from the opening possession. He loves finishing strong at the rim, challenging shots, and mixing it up on the boards, but his game goes beyond any one highlight. If a play calls for him to guard a different matchup, fight for another chance on offense, or sprint back to stop a basket, he's ready to meet it. He wants his effort to give his teammates energy and help turn demanding possessions in their favor.
Defense is where Airen takes the most pride in his work. His athleticism helps him stay with different matchups, while his toughness lets him hold his ground when the game gets physical. He enjoys the battle for rebounds on both ends, knowing an offensive board can give his team another look and a defensive board can finish the job after a hard-fought stop. That willingness to handle the gritty work is central to what he brings each time he steps on the court. A coach can expect him to compete with discipline, stay engaged, and put the team’s success ahead of his own numbers.
Airen has seen the biggest improvement in his game through growing confidence. Since last season, he's become more comfortable playing through contact and more consistent in the way he attacks each possession. He's learning that he can leave his mark without needing every play to run through him. A strong finish can fire up the bench, but so can staying in front of his matchup, winning a loose ball, or working for position when a shot goes up. Each of those moments asks him to bring the same focus, and he takes pride in being ready for them.
His goal for this season is to help his team win while earning a DI scholarship. Airen wants college coaches to see a player who can contribute at both ends and make an impact when the game demands toughness. He's especially hungry to face his team’s biggest rivals. Those games bring a different intensity, and he welcomes the chance to compete when every stop, rebound, and finish matters to the people beside him.
Airen understands that consistency will be one of his greatest challenges as he works toward those goals. Difficult games and slow stretches can test anyone’s focus, so he's committed to staying patient and continuing to improve through them. Behind the scenes, that means extra work on his finishing, defensive habits, athleticism, and strength on the boards. It also means taking care of his body and showing up with purpose. He believes the habits he builds there will help him answer the call when his team needs him most.
His faith and family keep that pursuit grounded. Airen trusts God’s timing and leans on his faith when the path becomes difficult, while his family’s support gives him motivation to keep working. He wants to make them proud, and he sees basketball as one of the ways he can make the most of the gifts and chances God has given him. That purpose stays with him through the long days of preparation and every hard possession he plays.
Airen’s calling card is the force he brings to the defensive end. He can take on different matchups, compete for the ball, and give his team a chance to turn a stop into momentum. His finishing and rebounding add to that impact, especially when his team needs a physical answer near the basket.
Airen’s increased confidence gives him room to keep building on the progress he made since last season. As he continues to bring the same concentration to each game that he brings to his work away from the court, he can make a strong case to college coaches through the way he helps his team compete and win.
