"Locked in: Built on Fire and Fueled by Energy"

Max plays the game with nonstop energy and a competitive edge that never cools off. He is a confident shooter who can handle the ball, push the pace, and stay active in every possession, whether the ball is in his hands or not. His hustle shows up constantly. He is talking, moving, cutting, defending, and doing the little things that swing momentum. Leadership comes naturally through how hard he plays and how locked in he stays from start to finish.

Last season, Max shot a blistering 50% from three and played a key role in helping his team reach the state championship game, finishing 2nd in the state. This year, with a bigger role and more responsibility, his production has climbed. So far this season, he is averaging 17 points, 5 assists, 3 rebounds, and 4 steals per game. His biggest improvement has been on the defensive end and in how he moves without the ball, finding ways to impact the game beyond scoring.

The offseason focus has been about growth. Adding strength and improving his ability to finish through contact remain priorities as he continues to develop physically.

What fuels him is the experience of playing on the state’s biggest stage and the opportunity to help lead his team back there again. Games like the upcoming matchup with Shawnee Mission South carry extra weight, not because of rivalry talk, but because both teams are among the best in Kansas, and every possession will matter.

Every time Max steps on the court, the effort is maxed out. He plays with visible joy, high energy, and a team-first mindset. He understands he may not be the biggest player on the floor, but he brings heart, pace, and constant pressure that teammates feed off of.

When facing adversity hits, his mindset is on to the next play, keep going, stay positive and keep competing.

One piece of coaching advice has stayed with him throughout his development is, "Be the one who gets things started". That approach shows in his leadership, his communication, and the way he lifts teammates during key moments.

Off the court, Max enjoys spending time with friends who share similar goals, playing video games, golfing, watching movies, and being around family. That balance helps keep him grounded while staying hungry.

Max is clear about his future. He 100% wants to play college basketball and already holds offers from Doane University and Briar Cliff University. His focus now is finishing this season strong, leading his team with energy and purpose, and continuing to prove that effort, toughness, and consistency matter.

I assess that Max brings scoring ability, defensive activity, and leadership through effort that can immediately help a college program. His willingness to do whatever is needed to win allows him to fit into different roles while raising the level of the group.

As his strength and finishing continue to improve, his overall impact will continue to expand. Expect a high-energy guard who plays with confidence, joy, and competitiveness, and who consistently finds ways to affect winning. That determination and fire are blazing to return to that championship game and win it on his final high school run. Stay tuned for this must-see TV breakout season.
