Baustin Bowers @BaustinBowers24, Instagram: baustin_is_here00, 5’9,150, c/o 25 from Liberty (Harrison) High School, WV is an electric athlete with an extremely high motor A shifty and fearless sniper with unlimited range and a silky smooth touch. Bowers is explosive off the bounce with blowby speed. With his three-level scoring ability with that speed, he can really hurt a defense causing all sorts of matchup problems. That long-range bomb is certainly his greatest strength but he is fierce off the bounce creating and getting his own shot off the bounce. Don't let his height and choir boy smile fool you, he is a killer waiting to drop you like yesterday's laundry. Bowers is effective on the boards too but his greatest passion is the pride he takes in his on-ball defense, in his mind it takes a dog to want to do it, so he loves letting that dog out to eat.
This past season Bowers was his team's leading scorer with 12.4 points with 1.8 assists, 0.8 turnovers, and 3.2 rebounds 1.7 steals while shooting 72% from the free throw line, 54% from FG, and 37% from 3 earning All-Big 10 1st team, All County 1st team, and Honorable mention All-State. What motivated Bowers the most this last year was going to Liberty because it was his first year there, and he had a chip on his shoulder to show coaches, teammates, and himself that he could play ball. That made him work extra hard. Playing AAU for West Virginia Crossover. Bowers' goal this season is to build up chemistry and relationships with his teammates so they can win championships while averaging 15+ points and 3+ assists. Bowers's focus of improvement for this year is learning how to become more explosive and quicker. He also wants to work on moving without the ball more. Bowers's goal heading into the next season is to make it to the State longing to experience that and to feel
that sense of accomplishment while making the All-Big 10 First team as well as the All-County First team again. Bowers would also love to get All-State and Player of the Year. averaging 15+ points and 3+ rebounds and steals.
What fuels Bowers the most is knowing that other schools and people did not believe in him, and they cut or benched him, but now having proved that he can play, gets him going and ready. thinking that before every game. This has taught him exactly how to handle adversity. Boers now understands it is just knowing and trusting the hours of work he puts into this game every day, believing in himself, and trusting your teammates and coaches are a huge part of being successful on that court.
A coach can expect Bowers to be someone who works extra, harder than anyone else on the team, outside of practice Bowers will also be the first one to practice and the last one to leave pushing himself intensely to get better. Something that sets Bowers apart from others is that he is willing to play his role, whether that is score 20 points and play a full game or play 15 minutes and do all the dirty work, he just wants to win for his team.
Bowers sees himself playing at a D2 or a small D1 school and believes in the work paying off and so far, as he has gotten better every season. Bowers believes in himself to make it where he wants to be. My assessment is that the fire and energy he brings and his explosive skill set will get him to his dream. Even when he starts slow, he finds ways to impact the game till he gets himself going. And his tenacious defense is scrappy and can be downright ruthless. If this trend of improvement continues, Bowers will make some real noise this upcoming season. I love the chip and confident swagger and encourage Bowers to block out all the noise and just grind with that confidence always that he controls how high he can fly, and with everything in him soar with the eagles and make some magic from within himself.
