Brooks has quickly become one of the most dangerous young guards in Minnesota because of how many different ways he can impact a game. He is the type of player who keeps defenders guessing from the opening tip because he can hurt opponents at all three levels. One possession, he is blowing by defenders and attacking the rim with force. The next possession, he is raining in shots from deep or creating opportunities for teammates. What makes Brooks so difficult to contain is his ability to adjust to whatever the game demands. If his team needs scoring, he can fill it up in a hurry. If they need a playmaker, he can create opportunities. If they need a defensive stopper, he is more than willing to take on the toughest assignment. That complete approach to the game has helped turn him into one of the most productive young guards in his class.

The work he put in behind the scenes played a huge role in his breakout sophomore season. Brooks averaged 18.7 points, 5.7 rebounds, 2.7 assists, 1.4 steals, and 1.4 blocks per game while helping Cannon Falls finish with a strong 21-7 record. He shot 49 percent from the field, 57 percent inside the arc, and 73 percent from the free throw line while earning HVL All-Conference honors. The numbers were impressive, but they were built on countless hours of offseason work, skill development, and confidence in his abilities. Brooks trusted the preparation, stayed aggressive, and consistently played to his strengths. The result was a season in which he scored 524 total points, finished fourth all-time at his school, and established himself as one of the premier scorers in the area despite being only a sophomore.

While his scoring ability grabs attention, Brooks takes just as much pride in everything else he brings to the floor. He embraces doing whatever is necessary to help his team win. Some nights that means putting pressure on the defense as an aggressive scorer. Other nights it means making plays for teammates, crashing the glass, or locking down the opposing team's best player. His willingness to embrace every aspect of the game is what separates him from many players his age. Defense, in particular, is something he values highly. He takes pride in competing on every possession and making life difficult for whoever he is guarding.

The success carried from the high school season directly into AAU basketball. After a strong year at Cannon Falls, Brooks wasted little time getting back to work with MN Fury. Adjusting from high school basketball to AAU basketball requires a different mindset and pace, but Brooks has handled the transition extremely well. His team has already enjoyed impressive success, including a 4-0 championship weekend at Battle of the Lakes and another undefeated weekend in Kansas City. Throughout those events, Brooks has continued to thrive by attacking the basket, creating opportunities in transition, and shooting the ball with confidence from beyond the arc. His ability to find success against different styles of competition has been a big reason for his strong spring.

Like every player, Brooks faced adversity along the way. During the second half of the high school season, his confidence as a three-point shooter began to waver during a shooting slump. For many players, that can quickly snowball into bigger struggles. Instead, Brooks trusted the work he had already put in. He continued getting extra shots up, stayed committed to his routine, and refused to let a temporary setback change his confidence. The experience helped strengthen his mental toughness and reinforced an important lesson that every great shooter eventually learns. Confidence is built through preparation and trust in the work.

Several accomplishments stand out when Brooks looks back on the last year. Earning All-Conference recognition was a rewarding moment and validation of the work he had invested. Scoring 33 points in a huge win over Stewartville remains one of his favorite performances. Finishing fourth in points scored in a season at Cannon Falls as only a sophomore is another achievement that speaks volumes about his growth. His AAU success has also continued to build momentum, already earning four All-Tournament Team selections this season while gaining more recognition throughout Minnesota basketball circles.

Brooks is far from satisfied with what he has accomplished so far. His biggest offseason focus is getting stronger and continuing to improve every area of his game. He wants to become a more complete player physically while continuing to expand his offensive and defensive impact. As AAU season continues and another school season approaches, coaches can expect a player who competes with nonstop energy, gives maximum effort every possession, and is fully committed to winning. Whether it is diving for loose balls, defending at a high level, scoring when needed, or making winning plays that do not always show up in the box score, Brooks brings a team-first mindset that makes him a valuable piece on any roster.

I assess that Brooks possesses one of the most balanced skill sets among young guards in his class. His ability to score at all three levels, attack the rim aggressively, rebound from the guard position, and impact the game defensively gives him tremendous value. He plays with confidence, competes hard, and has shown the ability to bounce back from adversity without letting it affect his overall game. His versatility allows him to influence winning in multiple ways.

Brooks is rising in a very positive direction as he continues to add strength, experience, and confidence to his game. His offensive production already stands out, but his willingness to defend, rebound, and do the little things raises his overall value even higher. The combination of scoring ability, competitive drive, and team-first mentality gives him a strong foundation moving forward. Expect Brooks to continue making noise throughout AAU basketball and enter next season as one of the players opposing teams circle on the scouting report every time they see Cannon Falls on the schedule.
