Committed to Rice

From the first time Alex stepped on the floor with Tennessee Impact, it was clear he had something special. Standing tall with a frame built to anchor the paint yet nimble enough to switch out on the perimeter, he became the enforcer every team wished they had. But over the years, Alex transformed from just being the muscle that locked up opposing bigs into a complete force, a versatile defender, rebounder, shooter, and relentless competitor who has worked tirelessly to expand his game. His growth has been fueled by confidence and controlled aggression, turning raw potential into a polished weapon ready for the next stage.

Alex’s defensive instincts have always been his calling card. Blessed with length and athleticism, he quickly learned to embrace the hustle, grit, and glue-guy mentality that makes teams win championships. He has long believed that anyone can score, but not everyone has the fire to guard, rebound, and do the dirty work. That mindset made him stand out, but what some overlooked is just how lethal he can be from deep. Behind the arc, Alex carries himself with complete confidence, knocking down shots at a high clip. Opponents expecting him to only punish them in the paint soon learned he could stretch the floor and rain threes with poise.

The chemistry he built with his teammates at Tennessee Impact fueled his rise even more. That team wasn’t just a collection of talent, but a brotherhood that shared one heartbeat. Every player embraced their role, and Alex found his lane by being the guy who would sacrifice anything to secure a win. That bond created something bigger than the box score, but a team that never once lost to an EYBL opponent in four years. For Alex, it was personal; facing those powerhouse programs only lit a fire inside him. He thrived on being in the right place at the right time, providing reliability to stars like Trey Thompson while establishing his own identity as a player who never backed down from the moment.

Despite his production and impact, Alex spent much of his career overlooked and underappreciated in recruiting circles. Watching teammates collect offers while he waited could have been discouraging, but instead, it fueled him. Every game became an opportunity to prove he belonged. That patience and persistence eventually paid off when Rice came calling, a program Alex had followed closely through Coach Rob Lanier, whose vision and leadership struck a chord with him. Rice wasn’t just another opportunity; it was the right one. A place where his toughness, versatility, and energy will be valued, and where academics and athletics align at the highest level.

Now, with his commitment made, Alex enters his senior season not to prove he’s D1 talent, but to dominate as a D1 player. He’s focused on consistency, on being efficient with his scoring both inside and from three, and on being a nightmare to guard in the paint. His goal is to lead Webb School of Knoxville to an undefeated season and another gold ball. Along the way, he’ll continue to anchor the floor with the same defensive presence and rebounding fire that defined him from the start.

Behind it all is family. From the first day he picked up a basketball, Alex’s parents and loved ones have stood by his side with unwavering support. Through wins, losses, and waiting on opportunities, they’ve been his foundation, giving him confidence to step onto the floor no matter the circumstance. Their belief in him has been constant, and their sacrifices have paved the way for the success he now enjoys.

Equally central to Alex’s life is his faith. Raised in the Church of Christ, with a father serving as a deacon, faith has been woven into his daily walk and his game. Every contest begins with prayer, both personally and with his team, grounding them in the reminder that they are blessed to simply be out there. Alex plays in God’s name, knowing that nothing is possible without Him. That faith sustained him through waiting on offers, through adversity, and now into the next chapter of his journey.

Looking forward, expect a more aggressive, battle-tested version of Alex. He’s determined to elevate his body and his skillset, to step onto the court and immediately command respect. At Rice, he’ll provide a versatile weapon, a stretch forward who can defend multiple positions, rebound with force, and bring unrelenting energy. Off the court, he carries a maturity that younger players can learn from, advising them to stay the course and trust God’s timing, no matter how long it takes.

Before turning the page, Alex thanks those who guided his path: God first, his parents, coaches like Norris and Clevinger, who gave him confidence, trainers at Priority 1 and Triple F, and mentors like Coach Lexus, who poured into his development. With their support and his unshakable drive, Alex Leeth is ready to make his mark at Rice and beyond.

Alex brings a defensive intensity and versatility that instantly impacts any program. His ability to stretch the floor with three-point shooting, combined with his presence as a rebounder and paint protector, creates a rare balance for a player his size. Rice is gaining a player who not only fills multiple roles but does so with passion, discipline, and high energy, making him the type of athlete who can elevate teammates while disrupting opponents.

Moving forward, expect Alex to continue to expand his offensive arsenal while maintaining the relentless motor that sets him apart. His ceiling at Rice is high, with the potential to become both a vocal leader and a matchup nightmare across the conference. The mix of size, toughness, shooting touch, and faith-driven resilience makes him a player who won’t just contribute immediately but will continue to evolve into a cornerstone for his program’s success. Stay tuned for his last push for that state championship, determined to walk off the high school stage raising that gold ball one last time.
