Jonathan plays the game with pace, purpose, and authority. A fast-paced downhill point guard, he puts constant pressure on the defense while keeping complete command of the floor. Everything starts with his decision-making. He reads the game a step ahead, attacks gaps when they open, and always knows when to go get a bucket or when to deliver one to a teammate for an easy finish. A four-year starter who has already surpassed 1000 career points, Jonathan brings experience, toughness, and edge every time he steps on the court. He is a fierce competitor, a relentless defender, and a true stats sheet stuffer who impacts the game in every area.
What separates Jonathan is how connected he is to winning. He plays defense with pride, sets the tone with his energy, and does the little things that hold a team together. As a heady point guard with a high IQ, he controls tempo, keeps teammates engaged, and makes sure the offense flows. While he is one of the top scorers on the team, his first instinct is still to create opportunities for others. He thrives as a facilitator, constantly looking to put teammates in position to score, especially when the game tightens.
Last season, Jonathan averaged 12.3 points, 2.9 assists, 5.9 rebounds, and 1.2 steals per game. This season, he has elevated across the board, averaging 16.2 points, 4.6 assists, 5.2 rebounds, and 1.2 steals per game. The biggest improvement has been his offensive aggression. Whether it is attacking to score or forcing help and finding open teammates, Jonathan has taken ownership of the moment and embraced his role as the engine of the offense.
The offseason focus is locked on conditioning and shooting consistency, areas he knows can take his game even further. Motivation has been easy to find after a tough first-round loss at state to the eventual champions last season. That moment has fueled everything, sharpening his focus and driving his pursuit of a state championship this year. The rivalry with Alcoa always brings out his competitive edge, but it is the playoff stage that truly lights the fire.
Jonathan’s competitive drive is relentless. He feeds off winning plays, whether it is seeing Luke finish above the rim or stacking multiple defensive stops in a row.
When facing adversity or the offense stalls, he turns to what he trusts most, getting into pick-and-roll action, attacking the paint, and making the right play to steady the team. His mindset is to control attitude and effort, and everything else follows.
Off the court, Jonathan values time with friends and family, enjoys video games, and stays involved in youth activities at his church. He also takes pride in his role with TN Impact, being part of a group that grew from a local presence into a national name. That experience helped shape his leadership and understanding of what it takes to compete at a high level.
Jonathan is signed to play college basketball at Lee University, where he will continue his journey alongside Luke. He leaves Maryville as more than a scorer or stat line. He leaves as a leader, a defender, and a point guard who drove everything his team did.
I assess that Jonathan brings pace, leadership, and all-around impact that every program needs at the point guard spot. His ability to pressure the ball, organize the offense, and contribute across the stat sheet makes him a steady presence who elevates the players around him.
Moving forward, Jonathan is poised to continue thriving as his shooting consistency and conditioning continue evolving. Expect a tough-minded floor general who embraces big moments, values defense, and consistently finds ways to impact winning at the next level. Stay tuned.
