Langhi is a dynamic wing that brings high energy and grit every minute, or every game. He plays with passion and purpose, and an intense determination to do everything to help his team win. He presents an absolute match up nightmare by possessing the skills of a guard, but the size and strength of a Center. He punishes defenders in the paint with an array of crafty moves to hit any shots he wants. He has strong handles and good speed off the bounce. He is able to slice through the lane with ease with graceful mobility. He is able to blow past the bigs, which is a problem for anyone else because of his height. I would say his biggest strength is being able to beat any opposing defender who is standing in front of him. Finally, he plays solid defense and gobbles up boards like candy.
This past season, he made it quite clear he is just built different. He had a huge impact on the Varsity team on their state tournament run, and he was only a Freshman. He averaged 13 points, 6 rebounds, and 1 block per game. His goal this upcoming season is to get back to the state tournament and this time win it all. He has been putting in a tremendous amount of work to achieve that goal.
He played AAU for the Nashville Stars, Basketball Club. It was sort of a self imposed gut check for him. He wanted to test himself against elite competition to see just how good he really is. Well, I think he passed his own test! He worked on being a more complete player, who isn’t solely focused on scoring, but dishing the rock, snatching rebounds, swatting shots out of the air, and dishing out passes. He played great post defense and hard in every game to get offensive putbacks and he was able to keep plays alive.
This kid is just a flat out DOG, who simply loves to compete. The bigger the stage, the more focused he is and the better the results. When things aren’t going his way during a game, always staying positive and continuing to grind, trust the process and trust the work he has put in.
When asked what a coach can expect from him, he said “I can help any team in multiple ways. I have high energy and an intense fire. I will always give 100% in every game and practice. I am coachable and always will push myself to get better. I am confident, but not cocky. I am a leader who will do whatever I can to help my team win.”
He is already starting to draw interest from some D1 schools, and he has already played against several current D1 players during both high school and AAU, and he MORE THAN held his own.
My personal assessment is that this kid is a truly special talent. He has the size and skill already. As he continues to mature, he is only going to get stronger. After a magical run last year, I expect another big season upcoming. This kid is be must see TV…stay tuned!
