Landon is a versatile giant who can really make it rain from downtown. He is a strong ball handler, who is both crafty and creative off the bounce. He is an extremely hard worker who plays the game with an intense passion. In his own words, he “wasn't born with natural God given ability or athleticism” so that is why he “trains so hard.” He also possesses a very high game IQ.

He watches Luka, Jokic, LeBron and Larry Bird, and he tries to emulate them as much as possible. He looks at how they play the game, how and why they made a good read, how they made certain passes and why they passed rather than popping a shot. He said  "If we come down on offense and we see that the team is in a 2-3, I will be the first one to call it out and tell everyone where to go". This shows that he has very good leadership skills.

He is a solid shooter who has very nice footwork and patience down low in the paint. He doesn’t allow noise and trash talk to rile him up. He stays calm, cool and collected and really doesn’t care about anyone’s opinion. He is extremely coachable and has very high expectations of himself. He takes great pride in playing defense, and he is very good timing his jumps to block a shot and send the ball flying into the crowd. Last, but definitely not least, he is able to rip rebounds out of the air.

This past season he averaged 9 points, 6 rebounds, 2 blocks, and 2 assists per game, while shooting 48% from the field. He led his team in 3 point percentage at 34.6%. His best high school game from last season was against Collinwood, where he had 17 points, 13 rebounds, 2 blocks and 2 assists.  He has started on varsity as a Freshman, where he received All-District Honors, and he had 192 total points on the year, while also receiving the “Viking Award” which is given to the player who has worked the hardest, both on and off the court.

His goals going into this upcoming season are to average 15+points, 10 rebounds, 5 assists, and 3 blocks per game, while shooting 50+% from the field and 35+% from 3 point land. He wants to make All-District, All-Tournament, All-Region, and All-State. Last season, his team got knocked out of the playoffs in the Regional playoffs, and they most definitely don't want history to repeat itself. This upcoming season, his team has a new coaching staff and he wants to show exactly what they are capable of, as well as get his name out there for college scouts and college coaches to see.

Playing AAU for the 15U Tennessee Tigers, coached by Clark Gandy (Graduate Assistant for Freed-Hardeman University) Landon  averaged 10-12 points a game, 7-8 rebounds a game, and around 2 blocks a game. They have played in numerous HoopSeen and RYZE Tournaments all across the South-Eastern part of the USA.  Landon's  AAU goals are to learn as much as possible from Coach Gandy and Coach Chip, dominate against their competition, and get used to being more aggressive with or without the ball. He wants to get quicker and stronger. He has spent a lot of time this off-season in the gym, lifting weights, doing skill drills, jumping rope, and doing plyometric drills.  He has worked very hard to become even more of a consistent shooter, getting better at driving to the hoop, playing with even more confidence, and be an even better teammate.

Throughout the weekend of June 18-19 in the Muletown Shootout Tournament in Columbia, Tennessee, he had the best and most successful overall weekend thus far this season where he had over 100 points in 5 games (20.6 ppg average), with tons of rebounds, assists, and blocks.  The weekend of May 17-19th was also special for Landon, where he averaged 12-15 points, 7-8 rebounds, many assists and 2 blocks per game.

His high school has a very rich basketball tradition, having won numerous state titles in the past. They have had many jerseys retired, and fans have gotten used to their team’s winning history. His Father was actually on one of those state title teams that went 37-0, so that fuels him to repeat what his Father’s team accomplished. He has vowed to avenge every loss that his team had last season, especially for Houston County (the team that eliminated them from the playoffs)

When asked what a coach can expect from him, he said “A willingness to do whatever the coach needs me to do to help the team win. I will always be prepared and play with intensity, passion, discipline, and motivation. I can read the court well, and I can see what a team is about to do right before they do it. I’m not afraid to make a mistake, and I always learn from my mistakes, and work hard to not repeat them. I don’t fear any of my opponents, but I always respect them, and I play with great sportsmanship.” He is solid in the classroom as well, as he was tied for 1st place for the highest grades in his class, with a 98.571 average, 4.0 GPA.

He most definitely wants to play college basketball and considers being able to play college basketball to be an absolute blessing. With his skillset, intense work ethic, competitiveness, and his passion for the game, I fully believe he will be able to play and thrive on the D1 level. He is a blue collar, roll up your sleeves and put in the work type. Period. He isn’t cocky, but extremely confident. He trusts in the process and the hard work that he has put in. He is an unselfish player, who is most happy not just with his own personal stats, but when his team gets that dub. I will be keeping a very close eye on this kid this upcoming season.
