Huston is a high-IQ point guard with a smooth touch and fierce competitive fire. A certified sniper from deep, his three-point shot is silky, compact, and lethal when he finds rhythm. But he’s far from just a shooter. Huston is an explosive downhill attacker who thrives at breaking down defenses, collapsing the paint, and making smart reads. He’s a playmaker with vision, a soft floater over shot-blockers, and an ever-growing confidence in traffic. What separates him is his understanding of the game; he finds ways to contribute even when shots aren’t falling, and never stops trying to make those around him better. Huston’s a tone-setter who competes hard, communicates, and impacts winning.
This past season, he was part of Webb School’s TSSAA State Championship team, soaking up knowledge from top-tier teammates and proving he could rise in big moments. Huston made his mark at the Rocky Top Invitational with B Maze Elite by scoring buckets, making plays, and getting wins in Gatlinburg. Coaches and scouts took notice of his ability to control the game, keep the offense flowing, and rain big shots from deep. His biggest improvement over the past year has been playing through contact, learning how to absorb bumps and still make plays downhill. Now, his offseason focus is squarely on expanding his scoring package with better finishing and more consistent perimeter shooting.
The thrill to compete and hunger to win is what fuels Huston every time he steps on the court. He handles adversity by trusting his teammates and staying solution-focused. The best coaching advice he has ever received is, "When the jumper’s off, go find other ways to win. " He’s bought into that fully, scrapping on defense, moving without the ball, and doing the dirty work when needed. With B Maze Elite, his goals are to keep growing and keep winning. Any Under Armour session is a welcome proving ground, and with another high school season ahead, Huston’s ready to lead Webb back into the title chase.
Off the floor, he enjoys relaxing with family and resetting between games. But on the hardwood, it’s all business, and Huston Torres is just getting started.
I assess that Huston is a versatile lead guard who brings shooting, toughness, and a high-level understanding of team basketball. His evolving ability to finish through contact, combined with knockdown range and court awareness, makes him a valuable asset to any program that wants a guard who can lead, adapt, and deliver under pressure.
Expect Huston to keep rising. His commitment to development, love for competition, and all-around approach make him a sleeper in his class. As he adds strength and continues to expand his offensive bag, he’ll only get harder to stop, and even more dangerous when the lights are bright. Stay tuned for a monster season ahead.
