As a versatile, athletic big with real presence, Tyler brings a strong inside-out game that changes the feel of the game the moment he checks in. He is comfortable scoring with his back to the basket, confident when he faces up, and capable of pulling defenders away from the paint with his touch. His size alone demands attention, but it is the work that separates him. He mixes it up on the boards, battles through traffic, and holds his ground inside. There is intent in how he moves, how he seals, how he finishes, and how he protects the rim. Every possession feels physical when he is involved.
The season has been shaped just as much by growth as it has by adversity. After suffering an ankle injury that required surgery and cost him most of his junior year and his entire AAU summer, Tyler turned the setback into fuel. Instead of rushing back, he locked into the work. Strength became the focus. Foot health, hips, core, knees, and full body work all mattered. That time is paying off. The balance looks better. The confidence is growing. The impact is real. One night summed it up perfectly. In a big rivalry win over Batavia, he went off for 35 points, 9 rebounds, 2 assists, and 1 block, announcing he was back in a big way.
This offseason, the focus was on continuing that climb. The weight room remains a priority with added focus on athleticism, speed, explosion, and endurance. Defending away from the basket and moving better are key points as he pushes to become more complete. The competitive fire burns hottest when being doubted, or chatter starts flowing, and that edge shows in how he competes. Conference battles are coming fast, especially another matchup with Batavia, which could decide the league, and Tyler is built for those moments.
Looking ahead, he is currently undecided on his next step, with all options still open. He will be playing AAU this upcoming season with Phenom United 3SSB and is also exploring the prep route. What stands out most is how he now handles adversity, welcomes pressure, and keeps moving forward regardless of outside noise. Confidence continues to grow as he plays through mistakes and trusts his game more each time out.
I assess that Tyler brings a college program a true interior presence who can also pull big defenders away from the rim. His ability to score in different ways, battle on the glass, and bring strength on the defensive end gives coaches flexibility with how they use him.
Moving forward, expect continued growth as his body keeps catching up to his game. Added athleticism and endurance will allow his impact to show up longer and stronger. With confidence rising and work stacking, Tyler has the tools to be a dependable frontcourt piece with real potential. After a strong start to the season and a monster rivalry game performance, Tyler gave us a glimpse of the impact he can have all season long and beyond. Stay tuned.
