Taylor is a long, athletic guard who thrives as a true three-level scorer, whether he’s raining shots in rhythm, slicing his way to the rim, or finishing through contact in the paint. His smooth handles allow him to read defenders, create space, and attack gaps with purpose, while his ability to hit from deep forces opponents to guard him honestly. He brings a blend of length, energy, and leadership, constantly talking on the floor, encouraging teammates, and keeping his body language locked in. When he’s locked in and the crowd is rolling, Taylor’s game shifts into another gear, feeding off that energy to become a relentless competitor on both ends.
Last season, Taylor averaged 3.7 points per game while shooting 48.6% from two, 29.2% from three, and 71.4% at the line, despite limited minutes, sometimes getting under a minute on the floor. Even in those limited opportunities, he made every possession count, doing his job and finding ways to contribute. His biggest improvement came in his confidence and physicality, finishing through contact, attacking instead of settling, and improving his communication on the floor. This off-season, Taylor has been focused on raising his three-point percentage, attacking the basket with more authority, and crashing the boards harder. His summer play showed the payoff, scoring 28, 22, and 17 points in three games in Evansville, along with plenty of rebounds and assists.
Taylor’s most impactful moments so far include playing his first full varsity season and exploding for 16 points in a single quarter. He’s fueled by the feeling of being on the floor when a teammate hits a big three and the crowd erupts. That atmosphere pushes him to play harder, and he’s looking forward to his first in-game dunk this season and fighting for a starting role. When facing adversity, he is grounded in lifting his teammates and trusting their abilities, even when his own shot isn’t falling. The best advice he’s received is, “You miss 100% of the shots you don’t take”. That has pushed him to be more assertive in making the right plays instead of settling. Off the court, Taylor enjoys lake days, jet skiing, and spending time with friends, keeping his balance between competition and enjoyment.
I assess that Taylor’s length, communication, and ability to score at all three levels make him a versatile asset for any college program. His leadership presence, combined with his knack for creating his own shot, means he can be plugged into multiple roles and still impact the game. As his shooting efficiency climbs and his finishing grows even stronger, he’ll bring a well-rounded offensive punch with the defensive effort to match.
With a full season of varsity experience and a summer of high-scoring performances, Taylor is poised for a breakout junior year. Expect him to become a consistent scoring option, a vocal leader on the floor, and a player who thrives under big-game energy. His development in rebounding, attacking the basket, and confidence as a shooter will only elevate his long-term potential. Stay tuned.
