Sebastian brings an exciting combination of skill, confidence, and toughness every time he steps on the floor. He is at his best attacking off the bounce, where his ability to slash through defenses and finish around the basket makes him a constant problem. Add in polished post moves, the ability to hit catch-and-shoot jumpers, and the confidence to score from anywhere on the floor, and it becomes easy to see why he creates matchup problems. Sebastian also takes pride in seeing the floor, making the extra pass, and creating opportunities for teammates, giving his game a complete feel instead of simply looking for his own shot.
Last season, while still in eighth grade, Sebastian challenged himself by playing up on the high school junior varsity team. That experience helped prepare him for the next step while giving him valuable minutes against older competition. Since joining B-Maze last October, he feels his game has taken another leap. The program has helped shape him into a more complete player while giving him opportunities to continue growing against strong competition throughout the AAU season. Every game has added another piece to his development and given him even more confidence heading into the future.
The biggest improvement in Sebastian's game has been his ability to put the ball on the floor with confidence and trust his shot. Becoming more comfortable creating off the bounce has opened up his offensive game, allowing him to attack defenders in more ways instead of relying on one strength. As his confidence continues to grow, so does his ability to take over stretches of a game by attacking off the bounce, making the right read, or making big shots.
One of the biggest challenges came when B-Maze began traveling out of state and facing teams filled with players who were taller, faster, and stronger. Instead of being intimidated, Sebastian embraced the challenge. Game after game, he adjusted to the speed and physicality until those matchups became normal. Learning how to hold his ground against bigger and stronger players gave him confidence that now carries into every game he plays.
The behind-the-scenes work is where Sebastian believes the biggest gains are made. Countless hours are spent getting up shots, improving his footwork, building agility, and elevating his ball handling. He studies college and NBA players to better understand the game while learning how to break defenders down based on their reactions. His goal for the rest of AAU is to become a leader for B-Maze, continue taking over games, and keep raising the level of his play. He wants opponents to know they are in for a battle every time they see his name on the schedule.
Confidence has never been something Sebastian lacks. When he faces highly ranked or well-known players, he walks onto the floor believing he is the best player in the gym and expects to prove it with his play. Rankings never change his mindset because he approaches every matchup the same way, believing his game can compete with anyone in front of him.
Coaches can expect a player who gives everything he has every time he steps on the court. Sebastian plays with energy, communicates with teammates, respects coaches and officials, and competes the right way. He brings scoring, rebounding, energy, and a team-first attitude that helps winning basketball. Looking ahead, he expects to play a major role for his team, continue improving every day, and keep making a name for himself with each opportunity that comes his way.
I assess that Sebastian is a versatile offensive weapon who can score at all three levels while creating problems with his downhill attack, finishing ability, and improving shot-making. His confidence, willingness to compete against top talent, and commitment to improving give him a strong foundation as his game continues to grow.
Sebastian continues to add new pieces to his game while proving he is not afraid of competition or hard work. As his confidence, ball-handling, and overall decision-making continue to develop, he has all the tools to become an impact player who consistently makes winning plays on both ends of the floor. Stay tuned.
