Riverside Christian Academy, NC

Matthew steps into every battle with a gritty, blue-collar fire that instantly lifts a team’s heartbeat. He thrives in chaos, feeding off physicality and outworking anyone in his path. His presence screams toughness. He owns the boards with hunger, wreaks havoc with tenacious defense, and stabilizes possessions with that fierce “DOGG” mentality that never fades. Every minute he’s on the floor is high energy, maximum effort, and pure competitive hunger. He does the little things that flip games, the dirty work that separates winners from everyone else, and the impactful plays that coaches build cultures around.

He defines himself as the glue guy every successful program needs, the one who embraces fundamentals and wins the possession battle by force. His game is fueled by relentless rebounding, creating second chances, and snatching momentum. He can hit shots, bang physically, and guard multiple matchups without blinking. He leads with effort, inspires teammates through example, and brings a stability that raises the entire group. His production mirrors that identity with 14 points, 14 rebounds, 4 assists, 2 steals, and 2 blocks. His biggest improvement came through increased aggression, sharper decision-making, and becoming a true enforcer on the boards.

This past year was a test that revealed Matthew’s full character. A mild MCL and meniscus tear threatened his season, yet instead of folding, he attacked the grind. With teammates and coaches backing him, he battled through pain and learned what loyalty meant in its purest form. He discovered a deeper level of dedication, developed a new appreciation for the people around him, and proved he’s the kind of warrior who keeps showing up regardless of adversity.

Next season already has fuel. Freedom Christian Academy is the rivalry matchup he can’t wait for. Coaches know exactly what to expect from him nightly: a double-double, nonstop hustle, rugged defense, and big plays that swing momentum. He’s looking forward to facing higher competition and proving his game translates at every level.

His fire starts early and never slows down. A tough rebound in traffic, a put-back in a crowd, a timely jumper when his team needs it, or simply seeing everyone locked in together is what sends him into another gear. When facing adversity, Matthew stays positive and finds another way to impact the game. The best advice he’s received has shaped his approach: control effort, attitude, and preparation.

Off the court, he loves family time, especially with his little sister, enjoying movies, grinding in the weight room, and hopping on 2K. In the classroom, he holds a 3.0 GPA. Recruiting-wise, he currently has one offer, with interest from a USCAA D2 program, and realistic aspirations toward NC A&T, NCCU, FSU, ECU, and Elon.

I assess that Matthew’s rugged rebounding, defensive presence, and nonstop motor instantly elevate any college program. He brings toughness that shifts momentum, positional versatility that locks down matchups, and an energy level that strengthens team chemistry. His ability to produce double-double impact while embracing the grunt work makes him an asset coaches rely on for winning stretches.

Expect Matthew to keep rising. With added ball-handling development, continued physical confidence, and experience against higher-level competition, he is poised to become an all-around force. His mindset, loyalty, and resilience point to a future where he impacts winning on every floor he steps on. Coaches searching for a warrior built for battles should keep their eyes locked on him.
