Greenfield HS, TN

Cruze brings a fiery edge to the floor that you feel the second he steps into the game. He is a high-motor guard who shines in the pick and roll, breaking down defenses with strength, quickness, and nonstop energy. He lives in the paint, drawing help, finding shooters, and keeping the offense flowing. Cruze’s voice never stops. His full-court pressure sets the tone. His willingness to attack mismatches, finish through contact, and hustle until the whistle makes him the heartbeat of his squad. His game is built on toughness, playmaking, leadership, and a jumper that forces defenders to respect him.

Last season, he averaged 15 points, 3 assists, and 3 steals, giving Greenfield a steady two-way presence. But the step he has taken into this year is clear in the two performances. In the opener, Cruze came out blazing with 21 points, 4 assists, 3 rebounds, 7 steals, and 6 deflections, showing just how much stronger and more confident he has become. His most recent game proved it was no fluke as he followed it with 19 points, 10 assists, 5 rebounds, and 5 steals, controlling the entire flow of the matchup. That improvement comes from real growth. Cruze grew two inches and added twenty pounds of muscle over the summer, giving him the power to protect the ball, create separation, and absorb contact. You can see the difference in the way he attacks the rim and frees up space on his jumper.

Cruze’s mindset was forged through adversity. A tough shooting slump once left him doubting himself, feeling stuck in his own head. Instead of folding, it sharpened him. It pushed him into a deeper grind and helped him rediscover his confidence. Now he plays freed up, fearless, and hungry. Humboldt sits at the top of his rivalry list after last year’s finish, and Cruze is determined to be ready when that matchup comes around.

Coaches know exactly what they can expect from him: leadership, tenacity, and full effort every possession. Cruze gives everything he has until the moment he hears his name for a sub. He plays to win and plays for the team beside him. And if someone starts talking on the court, that only fuels him more. When facing adversity, Cruze reminds himself of the early mornings, late nights, and hours of work that molded him. It resets his mind and keeps him locked in.

His faith is his foundation. He leans on Christ for strength and direction, trusting the path laid out for him. Off the floor, he enjoys lifting weights, being with family and friends, listening to music, and spending time with his girlfriend. Cruze has no offers or interests yet, but that does not shake him. He just wants a chance to hoop at the highest level he can reach, wherever that opportunity comes from.

I assess that Cruze brings college-ready value with his motor, defensive pressure, physical strength for his size, and his ability to create out of the pick-and-roll. His leadership and work rate make him a guard who instantly lifts a program’s energy and competitiveness.

As Cruze continues to improve his off-the-dribble shooting, grow his footwork, and continues using his added strength, he is moving toward a breakout rise over the next two seasons. His confidence is climbing, his impact is expanding, and his ceiling is nowhere close to reached. Expect him to grow into a tough, fearless guard who produces across the board and controls the game with heart and hustle. Stay tuned.
