From the very start of the season, it wasn’t smooth sailing, as injuries forced constant adjustments, lineups shifted, and adversity showed up early, but through it all the mindset never wavered because Jay stayed locked in and resilient, embracing that next man up mentality where everyone accepted their role, communication improved, and effort and trust became the foundation that held everything together when key pieces were missing, building something deeper than just a team, it built belief.
With that came another level of pressure, as every night defenses were locked in and every rotation was designed to slow Jay down, yet the approach never changed because he stayed patient, let the game come naturally, trusted his reads, and made the right play without forcing shots or chasing moments, keeping a steady focus on leading and impacting winning which became the separator.
And when the moment called for more, Jay answered, because there’s a feel to it, a sense for when the game is shifting and when it’s time to take over, and that’s when the switch flips as he stays aggressive, stays confident, and trusts the work put in long before the lights came on, showing that his ability to take over in bunches didn’t just show up, it was built through preparation and belief.
Then there’s the energy, the kind you can feel in the gym, because every time Jay steps on the floor there’s pride in bringing that spark, playing above the rim, changing momentum, and making plays that lift his team and break the will of the opponent, and it’s not just athleticism, it’s presence, it’s impact, it’s a statement every possession.
But what separates Jay even more is how complete the game is, because nearly averaging a double-double he affects every inch of the floor by scoring when it’s there, crashing the boards, locking in defensively, and doing whatever the team needs, showing a relentless approach built on consistency and effort where he never takes a play off and never lets the game drift past him.
As the season went on and the team got healthier, everything started to click as roles became clear, chemistry tightened, and the game began to flow, allowing them to play faster, more connected, and more confident, turning what once felt uncertain into a group no one wanted to see as they rolled through opponents with purpose.
That carried straight into the postseason, where the focus hit another level, preparation became sharper, attention to detail was locked in, and the energy was undeniable because every game mattered, and it showed as they played with urgency possession by possession, building momentum all the way to the biggest stage.
And when it was all said and done, they finished the job as winning the state championship meant everything because every early struggle, every adjustment, and every moment of adversity led to that feeling, and celebrating it with his teammates made it even more special, with Tournament MVP being a blessing, but the championship always being the goal that they achieved together.
Now the next chapter begins as Jay heads into AAU season, and the hunger hasn’t changed, with a focus on elevating every part of his game by tightening his handles, improving shot consistency, and continuing to grow defensively while competing at a high level, taking no shortcuts and putting in the work.
Because in his words, he’s just getting started, and the mindset is simple: keep working, stay humble, and continue proving it every time he steps on the floor.
I assess that Jay is a high-level athlete with the ability to completely shift momentum, bringing a combination of energy, production, and presence while impacting the game in multiple ways through strong rebounding, defensive intensity, and the ability to take over offensively when needed, thriving in big moments and elevating the play of those around him.
Jay is poised to be a difference maker at the next level with his motor, versatility, and winning mindset, as his ability to stay composed under pressure while checking every box makes him a valuable piece in any system, and continued development in ball handling and shooting consistency will only raise his ceiling even higher. Keep your popcorn ready, as Jay has already proven he's must-see TV. Stay tuned.
