Sometimes a move isn’t about chasing something new, it’s about getting back to what you lost, and for Zade that decision to transfer to Tug Valley was all about finding his love and passion for the game again, and that’s exactly what he found because Tug is a true basketball school that stands on academics, character, and doing things the right way, and those morals, those values, and that culture stood out in a real way, making it clear early on that this was where he belonged.

That feeling didn’t take long to show up on the court either, because from day one he was welcomed with open arms, teammates quickly became brothers, and coaches believed in him, encouraged him, and pushed him to be his best, and that kind of support meant everything as it built his confidence and allowed him to truly find his groove and his place within the system without forcing anything.

That fit became even more clear when you look at the identity of Tug Valley, known as the scrappiest team in West Virginia, and for Zade that wasn’t something he had to adjust to because he’s always felt like he had to work for everything he’s gotten, nothing handed to him, everything earned, and that blue-collar edge showed up every single game through his toughness, effort, and hustle as he did whatever it took to help his team win.

And while some players chase numbers, Zade chased impact, because his mindset was always to do whatever the team needed that night, whether that meant scoring, defending, rebounding, or making the extra pass, and that approach is what made him a true stat sheet stuffer, not by forcing anything but by being everywhere the game demanded him to be and becoming someone his team could rely on in every area.

That presence showed up strongest on the defensive end and on the boards, because for him those areas come down to heart and effort, and those are things he controls every night as he took pride in fighting for extra possessions, guarding the other team’s best players, and refusing to be outworked, bringing a level of energy that set the tone for everyone around him.

As a versatile two-way player, his approach was to play as hard as possible every possession, and trust his teammates, knowing that if he gave full effort on both ends, everything else would take care of itself, and through it all, it was always about the team first.

Now add in the pressure of being part of a 3-peat run where every team is coming at you with their best shot. Instead of letting that become a distraction, Zade and his team stayed focused, stayed humble, and kept working like they still had something to prove, never getting comfortable and continuing to produce when it mattered most.

That journey came with adversity, and those moments played a major role in his growth because they forced him to stay patient, trust the process, and continue being a great teammate no matter what, helping him grow mentally and become stronger as both a player and a person.

Even with all that, not everyone saw the full picture, because what some people overlooked were the little things he brings like defense, rebounding, leadership, and doing the dirty work that wins games, but that’s never been an issue for Zade because he never wanted to be known as just a scorer, he wanted to be known as someone who does whatever it takes to win.

Now as he looks ahead, the mindset hasn’t changed because he just wants to keep getting better, keep working, and keep proving himself knowing there’s still more to accomplish, and with his senior season coming up the goal is to come back even better, help Tug Valley make another run, and do everything he can to be part of a 4-peat while continuing to show that no matter what obstacles come your way, if you stay patient, keep working, and believe in yourself, your story can still end exactly how you want it to.

I assess that Zade brings a relentless motor, toughness, and a team-first mindset that directly impacts winning, consistently making plays through effort, defense, and rebounding while doing the little things that separate him from others.

He is poised to be a valuable piece at the next level with his versatility, consistency, and willingness to embrace any role, and as his game continues to grow, his ability to affect winning will only become even more valuable.
