"The Field General With Ice in His Veins and a Cannon Ready to Strike"

Dawson L Deer

His game is built on a dangerous combination of arm strength and elite football IQ. He can attack any area of the field, stretching defenses vertically and horizontally, while processing what’s in front of him at a high level. Pre-snap, he’s reading alignments and leverage. Post snap, he’s adjusting, setting defenders up, and taking what the defense gives him or punishing them for overcommitting. Whether he’s standing tall in the pocket or rolling out under pressure, he keeps his eyes downfield and delivers.

The season didn’t start the way he or his team wanted. An 0-4 start tested everything. It forced accountability, demanded better communication, and required a full reset in mindset. Instead of folding, Dawson and his team locked in. They came together, tightened up, and flipped the script with four straight wins to battle back to 4-4. That stretch showed toughness and belief. For Dawson personally, everything began to click when he stayed disciplined with his reads, trusted his progression, kept his eyes up, and let the game come to him.

The numbers reflect both production and efficiency. Dawson had 1100 passing yards, a 60 percent completion rate, 13 total touchdowns, and 300 rushing yards. The completion percentage stands out most, especially in an offense that wasn’t heavily pass-oriented. When the opportunities were there, he made them count. That efficiency speaks to decision making, control, and a quarterback who values each possession.

Recognition came his way as a Top 5 returning player in Tennessee 6A football, and it’s not something he takes lightly. It’s respect earned, but also a challenge accepted. The standard rises with that kind of attention, and he understands that now it’s about proving it again and separating himself even more.

Adversity didn’t just come from the early losses. There were moments throughout the season that demanded composure when things weren’t going right. Dawson stayed steady, kept his team focused, and continued to compete. He also holds himself accountable, knowing there’s more in his game to unlock and a higher level he’s chasing, especially when it comes to production and leading by example.

His biggest improvement came in consistency and control. Fewer mistakes, better decisions, and a steady presence that teammates could rely on every single drive. That growth showed up on Friday nights with more command, more confidence, and more trust from everyone around him.

Chaos doesn’t rattle him. He’s prepared for it. When plays break down, he trusts his instinct, keeps his vision downfield, and finds a way to make something happen. That ability to stay composed when everything speeds up is what separates him.

Now the focus shifts to becoming even more complete. He’s locked in on being more dominant in the run game while continuing to make the right reads through the air. It’s not about flash, but about winning. Every rep, every workout, every throw is geared toward that goal.

Moving forward, expect a quarterback who is sharper mentally and physically, one who has put in the work and is ready to show it. A leader who commands the offense, delivers when it matters, and keeps pushing for more every time he steps on the field.

I assess that Dawson is a high-IQ quarterback with strong arm talent and natural leadership traits. His ability to read defenses, stay composed under pressure, and limit mistakes makes him a reliable presence. The growth in consistency and control stands out, along with his willingness to take accountability and push himself to improve. He brings a balanced skill set with the ability to impact the game through the air and on the ground.

Dawson has the tools to continue rising as a top quarterback in his class. His understanding of the game, combined with his arm strength and decision-making, gives him a strong foundation. Continued development in overall production, expanding his run game impact, and maintaining efficiency will elevate him even further. With his mindset and work ethic, he has the potential to become a complete quarterback who leads winning programs. Stay tuned.
