Desjardins is a triple threat sniper, with a sickly smooth touch from long range. On top of that, he is more than capable of fiercely slicing through the lane for some truly nasty finishes. He is a force under the boards with superb length. Just when you think you have his game figured out, he can pass a perfect dime. He is also a stingy, defensive stud that can defend the 2-4 and excel at help side defense. He consistently takes charges and gets weak side blocks. Both his offensive and defensive communication are what sets him apart from the rest.

This past season, he averaged 18.2 points, 2.8 assists, 5.1 rebounds, 1.3 steals and 1.5 blocks while shooting 53% fg and 39% from three point land. What really motivated this kid is watching the older players in his organization achieve their goal of playing D1. This also allowed him to compete against D1 competition and watch their workouts. He knew right then and there that he was going to have to step up his game even more, which he absolutely did.  He knew what standard he had to hold himself to. His goals going into next season will be to put on weight and improve in all facets of his overall game. He is a high energy, super competitive DOG who is willing to put in the work. Period.

Playing AAU for DC United 17u, he averaged 16.2 points, 6.8 rebounds, 1.4 assists and 1.1 steals while shooting 53% fg and 42% from three point land. He worked extremely hard to improve his floor communication even more effectively. He really took it upon himself to be even more of a leader. He played much more effectively off the ball, and he was able to get above the rim more consistently, both in the half court and out into transition.

This kid wants to leave his mark in his school. He wants to make sure people remember his name and leave his legacy, not just for himself but for his family as well. His dream is to someday be able to financially take care of his family so they never have to struggle ever again, like so many families are doing right now. Basketball is simply his passion, so every time he feels like he isn't playing as well as he can, he pushes himself that much harder. That work ethic is just something that is deep down inside of him.

He has the ability to make sure that his teammates are communicating well, and that everyone is always on the same page. He fully understands that they are all fighting this battle as an entire team, and not just the 5 guys on the court at that moment. Having teammates by your side and being that teammate to others, gives him a sense of family. He believes you can get through anything with your family right there beside you.

When I asked him what a coach can expect from him, he said “My work ethic and passion for the game. “3 a days” have become the standard routine over these past few years. Some people dread practice, but I don’t. I enjoy nothing more than putting in the work, knowing it is going to transfer over into games. I communicate very well, and I am always fully engaged both on and off the court. I am willing to make whatever sacrifice is needed for the betterment of the team.”

His dream is to play the game at the next level. With his work ethic and dedication, my

personal assessment he has the pure talent, both as an elite scorer and a strong defender to do just that. He has a very high ceiling and he is only going to continue to grow and get better and better. This kid simply has all of the intangibles that all coaches want, but they can’t teach. Intangibles are either in you, or they are not. It really is that simple. And let me assure you, he has all the intangibles. Stay tuned!
