Blackburn is an electric, two way athlete who has speed and hands. He is simply “just built different.” The catches this kid makes in traffic literally leaves you shaking your head trying to figure out how he just did what he did. He is a high character kid who leads by example and takes care of the younger players. Defensively, he is a ball hawk who disrupts the passing game. He is able to read a QB and make him pay for throwing a pass. Receivers are helpless once he locks in. Once he gets his hands on the ball it is bad news for the opposing team.
This past season his stats were:
Defense:
7 Interceptions, 5 pass breakups, 24+ solo tackles
Offense: 433 receiving yards, 663 all purpose yards 12.7 avg yards per catch and 24 receptions with only 1 drop.
These stats earned him top 10 defensive performer in Florida 2s as well as Offensive player of the year and GC8 first team Defensive player of the year nominee. Last, he won the Hurricane award for leadership.
He stepped his game up bigtime this past
offseason, by learning how to break down film and truly study what he needs to know for all upcoming games. For example, against Villages Charter School, he ended up with 3 picks! He went through a horrific tragedy, when he lost one of his brothers on the team who died on the field. He is going to dedicate this upcoming season to him.
He is transferring to either the Villages Charter School or Lecanto High School where he wants to go out with a bang for his senior year. This kid is calm, cool and collected and he always keeps a positive mindset. He draws strength from his teammates.
He is a leader who knows where everyone is supposed to be and calls out what the offense is going to do. He is disciplined and pays attention to detail. He has a very high game IQ.
His dream is to play at the next level. He will be the first in his family to go to college, and that is something that is special to him. His Mom is a single mother of 4 who does the absolute best that she can. That is what motivates him to give it his all both on the field and in the classroom.
My personal assessment is he a high caliber player who will impact any program he chooses to play for. He is hungry and driven and he is willing to do whatever it takes to achieve his dream. Trust me and put this kid on your radar!
