Mason is a long, skilled big guard who brings a dangerous mix of size, shooting, and creativity. He can stretch the floor with his smooth outside shot, break you down with floaters or pull-ups, and take advantage of mismatches in the post. Whether he’s spotting up from deep or shaking loose for a punishing middy, Mason thrives in tight windows with his soft touch and instinctive feel. He’s not just a scorer; he can facilitate from the wing, rebound in traffic, and stay disciplined on the defensive end. Now stepping into a combo guard role, he’s focused on his ball-handling, improving his reads, and developing a downhill attack that makes him even more dangerous when he puts it on the floor.
This past season, Mason averaged 12.7 points, 5.7 rebounds, and 1.6 steals per game while shooting 35% from three. His confidence and ability to handle pressure were his biggest improvements, as he embraced more point guard responsibilities and adjusted to life with the ball in his hands. He’s now working on tightening his shot off the dribble, becoming more consistent at the rim, and getting his release quicker to stay a step ahead of defenders. That progress is already showing as he plays up a level with the 17U Elevation Flyers.
He’s locked in on his goals this AAU season, growing his game every time he steps on the court and putting himself on the radar with college programs. One event he’s especially looking forward to is the RecruitLook tournament in Chicago, where he’ll showcase his shot-making, decision-making, and versatile scoring. But the best part of this season? Playing alongside close friends and competing with a group that has strong chemistry and shared goals. Watching the seniors close out their careers reminded Mason how fast this all goes—and it pushed him to bring urgency to every practice and game.
Winning is what fuels him, and when facing adversity, he trusts the bond with his teammates will help them push through and stay focused. He plays with purpose and accountability. The best advice he’s ever been given is, "Control the controllables. "That mindset, combined with his tools and drive, sets him apart and keeps him consistent no matter the situation.
Off the court, Mason has a 4.2 GPA, enjoys golf, and values spending time with friends. Whether he’s competing in the gym or on the course, he stays locked in on improvement and embracing every challenge with confidence.
I assess that Mason’s mix of size, shot-making, and developing playmaking makes him a good option for college programs looking for a guard who can space the floor, rebound, and take on different roles. His ability to impact the game without forcing it, mixed with his strong work ethic and academic drive, will translate well at the next level.
As Mason continues to develop as a combo guard and leader, expect a big year ahead. His outside shooting, rebounding toughness, and expanding offensive game are going to make him a focal point moving forward. With continued growth, he has the tools to become a well-rounded, reliable option at the next level. Stay tuned.
