Kolson brings an explosive blend of size, skill, and smooth scoring touch that instantly grabs attention. At 6’5 with the handles of a guard and the elevation to finish above the rim, Kolson is a matchup problem from every angle. His catch-and-shoot game is pure, with a quick release, clean mechanics, and the confidence to let it fly. But what sets him apart isn’t just the buckets, it’s the swagger. He’s a floor general with scoring instincts, unshaken calm under pressure, and a leadership edge that fuels his squad in every moment. Coaches can count on Kolson to bring relentless energy, fierce competitiveness, and an unselfish desire to elevate his team. He shifts momentum with a dunk, a dagger three, or a tone-setting hustle play.
Kolson averaged 17.8 points, 5.2 assists, and 7 rebounds per game last season. But beyond the stat sheet, his biggest improvement came in leadership and offensive control. He embraced the role of primary scorer and took on more responsibility with every game, especially after his team graduated seven seniors and entered a rebuilding year. That adversity became his fuel, driving him to raise his level and push his teammates forward. His offseason focus is all about development, becoming a more disciplined defender, and mastering off-ball movement to make himself even tougher to contain. This summer, he’s playing with the 17U Team Griffin Academy program, where he’s not only playing up but proving he belongs. He’s looking to grab college interest, end the AAU season strong at the GASO Finale or Bigfoot Vegas, and carry that momentum straight into next year’s high school campaign.
Kolson plays with emotion but keeps it under control. When the noise rises or the energy drops, he steps up, either by letting his game speak louder than the trash talk or by being the spark his team needs. He handles adversity with poise, staying composed and steady to find the best shot instead of rushing under pressure. The best coaching advice that’s stuck with him is, “Good shooters show emotion after a miss, but great shooters stay locked in and focused on the next one.” That’s Kolson in a nutshell: always focused, fiery, and always hunting for the next opportunity to make an impact.
I assess that Kolson’s unique mix of length, shooting, ball-handling, and court vision gives him tremendous upside as a scoring wing or big guard. His ability to create his own shot, feed teammates, and bring leadership through both words and actions makes him an ideal fit for any program looking for a versatile playmaker with room to grow into a dynamic two-way threat.
Kolson’s ceiling is sky-high. He’s already taken the reins of his high school team, stepped into elite AAU competition, and committed himself to becoming more complete every day. Expect continued growth in his defensive intensity and off-ball impact while his offensive skill set and leadership take center stage. The potential is high, and he’s climbing fast. Stay tuned.
