Ezra Hollis wants every snap to show that he belongs. He describes his game as solid and steady, while knowing there is always more he can improve. Ezra takes every chance to practice and play because each rep helps him prepare for the defender he will face next.

Ezra plays on both the junior varsity and varsity teams, which have started 4–1 and 4–2, respectively. He has recorded 12 pancake blocks this season, with his biggest moment coming against Forest Hill when he put together seven in a row. His blocking and footwork have improved since last year, helping him become more effective in the physical battles up front.

A different opponent can bring a different challenge each game, so Ezra works to stay focused on the player in front of him and puts his faith in God when things get tough. During the offseason, he set out to become a more dominant blocker, and his goals now are to avoid missed assignments and keep his quarterback protected. His workouts and drills follow a set schedule, a habit shaped by his father’s reminder that other players are working when he isn't.

Before the snap, Ezra watches for stunts and blitzes, then communicates what he sees to his fellow linemen. That awareness helps the group prepare for movement from the defense and gives the offense a better chance to execute the play. His family and the teammates beside him fuel his fire, especially when their energy builds together before a game.

Ezra has embraced a demanding workload early in high school and is making his snaps count. His progress reflects a young lineman who takes preparation seriously and wants to help the players beside him succeed.

Ezra has a strong foundation to build on as he gains experience against more defensive looks. Continuing to sharpen his technique and communication can help him become an even stronger presence up front.
