Gabe is ranked the No. 15 wide receiver in the state. His shifty movement, good vision, and secure hands help him make plays with the football, while his versatility lets him contribute in several roles. He's brought those strengths to a new school, a new position, and a different offensive system this season.

Gabe leads his team with 10 receptions for 68 yards and a touchdown, the first varsity score of his football journey. He has added 33 yards on 3 rushes and gained 109 yards on 4 returns, taking 2 of them beyond the 45-yard line. He's also recorded 3.5 tackles, including 2 solo stops, on kick coverage.

Gabe says roughly 40 yards and 2 touchdowns were called back, so even his numbers leave out some of the plays he made. Earning more varsity playing time has been his biggest improvement, and he's made the most of that chance while getting used to his new team. Changing schools and positions at the same time has tested him, but he's found ways to help his team in every phase of the game.

Gabe’s start shows how valuable his willingness to take on different jobs has been for Van Meter. He's responded to a demanding transition with real contributions and has earned a greater role along the way.

As Gabe settles further into the offense, his quick feet and ability to find room give him a strong foundation to build on. His growing comfort with the system could make him an even bigger factor through the rest of the season. Stay tuned.
