Patrick is a pure point guard with a fierce mind and smooth game that doesn’t just run the offense, he owns it. Patrick is a master at controlling tempo, breaking down defenses, and creating shots for his teammates, and he is built to lead. His high IQ and electric feel for the game set the tone, but what separates him from every other floor general is the way he balances unselfish playmaking with early offensive aggression and scoring versatility. He’s a threat to bury a three off the catch, pull up in rhythm from midrange, or float a soft tear-drop through traffic. He doesn't just facilitate but delivers with poise, purpose, and a will to win. His communication, composure, and court awareness fuel those around him.

With two DI shooters in his lineup this past season, Patrick focused on becoming more valuable without the ball, improving as a catch-and-shoot threat, locking in defensively, and embracing the physical side of the game. That work paid off. So far in AAU play, he’s averaging 11 points, 4 rebounds, and 3 assists per game. His biggest improvement was as a two-way guard, hounding ball handlers, anticipating passing lanes, and confidently rising up in transition. He plans to use every AAU game this summer as a platform to showcase his consistency, and he’s eyeing the Hoop Group Summer Jam Fest and NEPSAC weekends to prove he can thrive against elite competition.

Loyalty runs deep in Patrick’s game. He chose to stick with his coach, Eric Polli, and New England Elite instead of chasing a so-called “bigger name” team. That choice speaks volumes. He values trust, relationships, and steady growth. This summer, he’s focused on expanding his leadership, evolving his scoring arsenal, and helping his team compete at the highest level. Whether he’s using a hesitation move to create space or drawing defenders to hit the open man, Patrick’s ability to impact the game in layers is what makes him special.

He’s fired up for his senior season, ready to lead, ready to finish strong, and ready to leave St. Paul’s with pride. What fuels him most are momentum-changing plays like draining a clutch three, delivering a no-look dime, or flipping the energy of the gym with a timely charge. Patrick thrives in those moments. That fire doesn’t fade when adversity strikes, either. He responds by locking in, problem-solving, and raising his level while lifting everyone else around him.

His mindset is grounded in simplicity and strength: “Control what you can control.” That guiding principle keeps him steady in storms and relentless in preparation. Coaches won’t just get a crafty guard, they’ll get a tireless worker, a vocal leader, and a team-first player with the heart to match the hustle. Add in his standout performance at the Dylan Thayer event, and it’s clear: Patrick Ricca is ready for the spotlight.

I assess that Patrick brings a rare combination of control, creativity, and commitment. His ability to read the floor, make plays under pressure, and score at all three levels makes him an immediate asset to any college program in need of a true leader and difference-maker at the point.

Expect Patrick’s stock to keep rising. His attention to detail, loyalty to development, and explosive playmaking moments signal a player poised to thrive at the next level. With his work ethic and leadership, he has the tools to become the heartbeat of a future college program. Stay tuned for a breakout season ahead.
