"Next Wave Rising: A Point Guard Taking Over Every Level"

6'3, Class of 2028

Brentwood HS, TN

Ezra steps on the floor with energy that never dips and a game built to impact everything happening on the court. He’s not locked into one role, not limited to one way of attacking. He can slide across multiple positions on offense, but when the ball is in his hands at point guard, everything opens up. That’s where his vision, creativity, and IQ take over. He gets downhill with purpose, breaks defenses apart, and finds teammates in rhythm while still being a threat to score at all three levels. On the other end, his size gives him the ability to guard 1-5, turning him into a matchup problem no matter who lines up across from him. What separates him is how he lifts everyone around him, keeping teammates locked in and pushing forward no matter what the game throws their way.

That edge didn’t just appear overnight. The move from Columbia Academy to Brentwood High School was a major jump, stepping into one of the biggest programs in the state. Early on, there were moments of adjustment, moments where everything felt new and fast. But once he settled in and found his rhythm, everything changed. Being surrounded by talent, strong coaching, and high-level competition forced him to rise. That environment sharpened his confidence and prepared him for what came next. Now, running with NXTPRO 16U, that same confidence shows every time he hits the floor, playing free, aggressive, and focused on being the best version of himself.

This spring stretch has been different. There’s a spark to his game that stands out right away, and it’s backed by real work. Training sessions with Coach Jeremy Pope at Next Level Skills helped expand his scoring and point guard play, while strength work with Luke Huntzinger at Southside Strength added more explosiveness to his game. Add in consistent work with Coach Tony Campbell on the Puma NXTPRO circuit, along with continued time in the gym at Brentwood, and everything started clicking at once. The mental side, the physical side, the confidence, it all lined up and pushed him into another gear.

His high school season told a story of growth from start to finish. It began with finding his role and adjusting to the speed and depth of a 4A roster. As the season moved forward, so did his confidence. Earning a spot on varsity as a sophomore on a loaded team was an accomplishment in itself, but he didn’t stop there. Competing against top talent like Ty Cobb gave him a real look at the level he’s chasing, especially on the defensive end. By the time the postseason arrived, he was earning minutes during a state playoff run, showing he could be trusted in big moments and using that experience as fuel to push even harder.

Now the production is catching up with the growth. In AAU play, he’s averaging 15 points, 6 assists, 5 rebounds, and 4 steals per game, delivering the stat sheet stuffer and impacting the game from every angle. Recognition came early as a standout performer during Session 1 of the Puma NXTPRO Circuit in Franklin, and he’s carrying that momentum forward into the next sessions. But for him, it’s not about chasing numbers. It’s about stacking performances and continuing to build something bigger each time he steps on the floor.

The biggest improvement in his game has come from his control and decision-making. He’s not rushing anymore. He’s reading, reacting, and making the right play instead of forcing action. Ball handling is tighter, leadership is stronger, and defensive discipline has taken another step. That growth shows up in how he limits turnovers, creates more for others, and takes on tougher assignments without backing down. It’s a complete shift that’s turning him into a player who impacts winning in multiple ways.

Adversity played its role, too. There were stretches where shots didn’t fall, or games didn’t go his way. Those moments tested his confidence and mindset. Instead of letting that define him, he leaned into the work and stayed locked on improvement. That experience taught him how important consistency is, not just in skill, but in mentality. Staying steady, staying focused, and continuing to grind no matter the circumstances.

Now with NXTPRO 16U and the spotlight that comes with it, the mission is to show that he can compete at a high level every time out and show that he’s more than a scorer, but a player who defends, makes smart decisions, and brings energy from start to finish. Coaches watching his film are going to see someone dependable, coachable, and ready to take on whatever role helps a team win. The goal is to earn that opportunity at the next level, and every game is another chance to prove he belongs.

And he’s not done building. Not even close. There’s a deeper drive behind everything he does. Growth on the court, growth mentally, and growth in his faith. Trusting God’s plan while continuing to put in the work every single day. Watching his older brother become the first collegiate football player in the family added even more motivation. Now he’s chasing his own path, aiming to become the first to do it in basketball.

What’s next is simple. More work, more growth, and more moments that show exactly who he’s becoming. And if this stretch is any sign, that next version is going to be even more complete, even more dangerous, and even more ready for what’s ahead.

I assess that Ezra brings a versatile guard skill set built on vision, pace, and multi-level scoring ability. His ability to play and defend multiple positions gives him strong value on both ends of the floor. He shows strong leadership qualities, communicates well, and elevates teammates through his playmaking and decision-making. His recent growth in ball control and defensive consistency has taken his impact to another level.

Moving forward, Ezra has the tools to develop into a complete lead guard who can control the flow of a game while contributing in every category. Continued strength development and consistency as a scorer will raise his ceiling even higher. With his work ethic, confidence, and commitment to improvement, he has the ability to grow into a reliable contributor at the next level and a player who can impact winning in a variety of ways. Ezra's best basketball is still ahead. Stay tuned.
