Memphys does not step on the football field hoping to simply make plays. He steps on the field trying to leave a mark. He is a fierce, explosive, relentless force that attacks every snap with bad intentions and a nonstop motor, Memphys plays the game with an edge that jumps off the screen immediately. His mindset is simple and straight to the point. He wants opponents leaving the field sore, exhausted, and hoping they never have to line up across from him again. That fire burns through every tackle, every pursuit angle, every collision, and every violent trip into the backfield.

His junior season turned into a defensive rampage. Memphys stacked 92 tackles, 18 TFLs, 8 sacks, 1 forced fumble, 1 fumble recovery, 1 PBU, and even blocked a punt. Those numbers only tell part of the story because his impact was far beyond the stat sheet. He became the emotional spark plug for his team. The player teammates looked toward when they needed something big to happen. In close games, players would come directly to him asking for a game-changing play, and more times than not, he delivered. Big sack, a crushing tackle, or a momentum-swinging stop. Memphys embraced those moments instead of running from them.

What makes his game so dangerous is the way he processes football before the snap even happens. Memphys studies film relentlessly and rewires his brain throughout the week to understand opposing offenses. He diagnoses blocking schemes, reads where runs are developing, and reacts violently once he sees it unfold. Whether he is frontside or backside, he already understands angles, leverage, and where blockers are coming from before the ball is even snapped. That preparation allows him to play fast without guessing. Then you add the physical tools on top of that.

Being a dual-sport athlete has also shaped his mentality in major ways. Memphys has experienced every side of sports, from being a featured player to grinding through practices without seeing major game action. That journey helped build toughness, patience, and resilience while teaching him how to keep working regardless of circumstances. It also helped strengthen his conditioning and competitive edge.

Adversity tested his team heavily during the season after back-to-back losses midway through the year. That moment forced everyone to look in the mirror and decide what kind of team they wanted to become. Mediocre was never acceptable to this group. Instead of folding, they responded with a chip on their shoulder and something to prove every week moving forward. That same mentality fuels Memphys individually, too.

This offseason has brought another battle after suffering a hamstring strain that temporarily slowed him down. Instead of letting the injury defeat him mentally, he attacked rehab and recovery with the same fierce approach he plays the game with. He understands nothing has ever been handed to him, so every opportunity means something. His focus now is becoming the dependable player teammates can lean on when everything feels stacked against them.

When coaches turn on Memphys Barb’s film, they are going to see a scrappy football player that lays everything on the line for his teammates and this game. They are going to see effort that never cools off. They are going to see violent pursuit, explosive closing speed, versatility, toughness, and somebody willing to sacrifice his body every single snap. The biggest compliment he receives is how hard he plays, and judging by the way he attacks the game, that part of him is never changing.

I assess that Memphys is a fierce, versatile defender who impacts games with physicality, instincts, and relentless effort. His ability to play multiple positions while still producing at a high level makes him extremely valuable. He diagnoses plays quickly, attacks downhill violently, and uses his speed to erase angles all over the field. His motor and toughness consistently separate him from others.

Memphys has the tools to continue rising because his game is built on effort, preparation, and versatility. His combination of football IQ, explosive pursuit speed, physical tackling, and willingness to embrace any role gives him major upside defensively.
