Jakob is a prolific scoring little giant with a high IQ and a non-stop motor. Jakobs creative smaller guard that can space out the floor. What makes Jakob a match-up nightmare despite his size is that he is explosive off the bounce, carving his way into the lane for his strongest quality, shooting-wise, killing defenders with a deadly mid-range game. Jakob loves to get out in transition, using that speed and excellent court vision to put a ton of pressure on the defense. Jakob is a dazzling defensive gem in his own right, with the ability to defend 94 ft effectively.
The most motivating thing that happened last season that will push Jakob moving forward was losing in the semi-final of our sectional.
This upcoming season, Jakob wants to go all out. On and off the court, Jacob will push himself past 100%. Jakob believes their team can absolutely bring home a sectional championship this year, but it all comes down to how hard they work and how much they want it.
Playing AAU for the Indiana Ambition, Jakob's goal was to play basketball at a collegiate level, with the main focus being finishing at the rim over bigger defenders, which he did consistently.
What fuels my Jakob's fire: ever since he was a kid, people have told him that He is ‘too small’ to play basketball. Jakob loves being able to not only prove those people wrong, but to prove himself right.
The way Jakob handles adversity has always been the type of player to be in the moment. There are no distractions at all, just total focus. In high-pressure moments, Jacob knows that’s when his team needs him the most. Attitude reflects leadership, so if his teammates see how calm and collected he is, they will follow and trust not only him but the whole team as well.
A coach can expect Jacob to bring high energy to any team. Jakob won’t only work hard to make himself better but he makes it his responsibility to make the team as a whole better. Jacob is a leader on and off the floor.
Jakob would love to be able to say that he is a D1 athlete, but unfortunately he is not at that level yet. Jacob understands his size and stature aren’t built for that level at the moment. Jacob thinks he would be a great player at the NAIA level or even lower major D2 schools.
I assess that firecy little dynamo will impact any team that sees potential over size. Jakob brings so much energy that no one on the floor outworks him despite their size. Jakobs very efficient high-percentage shooting, along with his scrappy defense, is an impressive show to see. Don't let the size fool you; Jakob can flat-out deliver on both ends of the floor. Over the summer, a switch came on, and this little giant was unstoppable, setting the stage for one last magical run to remember. Stay tuned!
