Jake is already making noise before ever stepping onto a high school court. A smooth and crafty playmaker, he blends tight, confident ball-handling with dynamic scoring ability from all three levels. With elite court vision and the poise of a seasoned guard, Jake picks defenses apart whether he's slicing into the lane, pulling up from midrange, or dropping dimes off quick reads. His ability to control tempo and stay composed under pressure makes him a nightmare for full-court presses, often turning defensive aggression into transition layups. There's a calm confidence in his game that belies his age, and it’s backed by his skillset, leadership, and natural feel for the point guard position.
This past season, Jake posted 13.4 points, 7.8 assists, and 5.5 rebounds per game in middle school play. His biggest improvement was in the midrange department, where he showed improved control in creating space and getting his shot off with rhythm and balance. As he heads into his freshman season, his focus is on becoming physically stronger while mastering tough finishes through contact and hitting off-balance midrange shots in traffic. The most impactful moment from his year wasn’t a highlight, it was the realization that playing the full game meant valuing every possession. It sharpened his sense of ball control and elevated his awareness of what it takes to win.
Jake will be playing for Tri-City’s Mafia during the AAU season with a goal of 20 points per game while polishing his midrange attack and learning through competition. He’s especially excited for the Rocky Top World Class tournament, where he’ll get to show how much his game has grown. Off the court, Jake is grounded and motivated, with a strong mental approach that allows him to face adversity with composure and purpose. He’s not shaken by pressure but embraces it, learns from it, and plays with confidence. The best advice he’s received is “Shoot and forget. Don’t worry about the past, focus on the present.”
I assess that Jake’s ability to control pace, find teammates in tight windows, and score efficiently from anywhere on the floor gives him tremendous value at the point guard position. His combination of basketball IQ and skill makes him an immediate impact player heading into high school. A coach’s dream as he sees the floor like a veteran and makes everyone around him better.
Expect Jake to emerge as a rising name in Tennessee hoops. His potential is through the roof as he adds strength and continues developing his scoring efficiency. With his work ethic, confidence, and love for competition, he’s a future leader ready to leave his mark on every level he touches. Stay tuned.
