Swift is a downhill master. He is both crafty and creative off the bounce, and he has a nasty spin move. He is a fierce finisher whose greatest strength is driving to the rim and finishing through hard contact. He can shoot the 1 dribble pull up, and pull up from anywhere on the court. When a team starts to dial in on him, he immediately gets his teammates involved. He is a strong leader who his team can always count on, and look to when things are getting tough. He is a strong shot blocker and he uses his lanky frame under the boards well.
This past Middle School Season, he averaged 19 points, 3 assists and 4 rebounds per game. His team lost in the state playoffs and he personally felt like he didn't play like he has played in other games. He was disappointed in himself, and he felt like he let down his teammates and his coach. This is what has driven him to work the hardest he has ever worked in his entire life. His biggest goals going into next season is to win the JV Conference Championship, be a strong leader, and be one of the main scorers on his team.
This AAU season, he played for Tennessee United, and he tried his best to really make a name for both himself and East Tennessee. He worked hard on his jump shot, and he averaged 23 points, 4 assists and 7 rebounds per game along the way.
Swift has a very strong faith in Jesus Christ and always makes sure to give all the glory to God. He feels that God gave him a gift and he feels he can spread God’s word to people through the game of basketball. He trusts the work he has put in with all the early morning and late night practices.
When asked what a coach can expect from him, he said “A solid player who plays strong defense, communicates well on both sides of the court, and who is a vocal leader. I will always give 100% effort and play with a very high energy level.” His goal is to play basketball in college and my assessment is that he has a very high ceiling. With his work ethic and immensely strong faith, I truly believe that there is no limit for him…and that includes playing for his dream school, Lees McCrae.
