6’, 145lbs, Class of 2028
Camdenton HS, MO
The Lab (AAU Team)
Johnathan is a lethal weapon from beyond the arc. An electric shot-maker with a flamethrower from deep can rain buckets off the catch or off the bounce. He’s a smooth, confident scorer with a fierce edge on defense, capable of guarding all 94 feet and flipping defense into fast-break points in the blink of an eye. While he’s naturally a shooting guard, he's embracing the challenge of evolving into a combo guard, putting in the hours to improve his handle, sharpen his reads, and lead the floor when needed. Built on pure hustle, passion, and a will to lead, Johnathan brings that rare blend of effort and execution every coach looks for. His shot is pure, his mindset is growing, and his ceiling is only going higher.
So far this AAU season, Johnathan is averaging 12.5 points, 4 rebounds, and 3 assists per game while shooting a blistering 45% from three and 55% from the field, along with 85% from the free throw line. That kind of consistency and confidence from a shows his growth is far from just physical, it’s mental, too. His biggest improvement was in leadership and trust in his own game. After averaging just 7.5 ppg last year in AAU, he’s exploded this spring with multiple 15+ point games. His offseason focus has been all about speeding up his release, mastering ball-handling drills daily, and grinding in the weight room six days a week to add strength and explosiveness to his game. His transition from middle school to high school ball opened his eyes to the intensity required at the next level, and he responded by locking in on the grind with renewed purpose.
Johnathan plays with The Lab out of Lebanon, Missouri, and while their tournaments remain local this year. He’s focused on proving himself to Camdenton’s new varsity coach and making a major impact this upcoming season. What fuels him most is that first made shot or defensive stop, it flips a switch in him and sets the tone. He’s learning how to turn emotional adversity into composure, reminding himself to control what matters and that the next shot is always the most important. That wisdom came straight from his trainer, Jordan Walton, whose words have become a steadying force for his development.
Off the court, Johnathan is just as well-rounded. A member of the Bel Cantos choir, a new golfer, and someone who thrives being around friends and family, he brings balance and joy to everything he does. But on the floor, his focus is clear: elevate his teammates, hit shots, and bring relentless effort every single play.
I assess that Johnathan’s elite shooting ability, defensive fire, and rapidly growing confidence give him the kind of upside that’s dangerous for any defense. His impact goes beyond scoring as he lifts his team with energy and effort while developing the tools to become a vocal leader and floor general. Programs looking for a fearless competitor with an elite motor and deep range should keep their eyes locked on him.
As he adds strength, tightens his handle, and embraces the grind, expect Johnathan to rise fast. His shot is already college-level consistent, and with his dedication to growth, he’s becoming a versatile, explosive backcourt threat who will be impossible to overlook as he enters the spotlight in the coming years. Stay tuned.
