Zay is a savvy point guard who is fearless with great court vision and loves attacking the lane using his nice ball-handling skills and finishing strong at the rim, even over bigger defenders. Zay can certainly bring rain from three lands. Zay is unselfish as he is a pass-first pure point guard, always looking for open or cutting teammates. Zay uses his speed, size, and strength to be a menace defensively, disrupting the offense, getting steals, and fueling the fast break.
T/his past season, Zay averaged 10.6 points, 8 assists, 3 rebounds, and 3 steals per game. The most motivating thing that happened to Zay last season that will push him moving forward was losing games and for people doubting the talent that is at Riverside High School! Zay's goals for next season will be to win more games and to be successful as a team, hopefully make the playoffs.
Playing AAU for the West Virginia Kings, Zay's goal is to accept each challenge that will help improve his game and to support his teammates, so that they will work hard as a team, and win championships with his focused area of improvement is to shoot the ball more, to score at least 15 pts a game, to be a leader on and off the court, to learn from every win and every loss while helping his team be successful.
What fires Zay up the most is when the team has energy after something big and when they look good as a team.
When facing adversity, Zay takes a deep breath and learns from his mistakes, gets refocused, and just tries to be more confident in himself and his team.
A coach can always expect Zay to be coachable, to listen, to take criticism, to have a good attitude, and to work twice as hard in the season and out of the season, which will help improve his game.
Zay can see himself playing at any division level because he is willing to learn from every level even if it means starting at the bottom to work his way to the top. Dedication, self-discipline, and hard work are important to be successful.
I assess that Zay plays a fierce scrappy brand of ball as an undersized guard must do. Zay has the toughness, strength, and reliance needed to break through to the next level, understanding. He has to outwork everyone on the floor to get any attention. Zay possesses all the intangibles of a pure point guard, but that scoring ability and defensive swagger will be key to separating himself. Zay's leadership will be vital this upcoming season to reach his goals with his team., the piston that fires the spark. Stay tuned.
