Josh is a true point guard in every sense: electric with the ball in his hands, fearless on defense, and always locked in as a vocal floor leader. He plays with a high IQ, confidence, and a gritty edge that separates him from the pack. He is a smooth shooter with range, and he’s just as dangerous creating his own shot as creating for others. His relentless energy on the defensive end sets the tone, and when the game tightens, Josh is the one you want with the ball, poised, purposeful, and ready to deliver. Coaches can count on a player who leads by example, brings non-stop effort, and thrives under pressure.
Despite being sidelined much of the year due to an ankle injury, Josh still proved his consistency from deep, shooting a blistering 40% from three. His biggest improvement was his ability to handle pressure while setting up the offense. This offseason, he’s locked in on building strength to finish through contact, improving his midrange game, and evolving his decision-making in high-pressure moments. With his senior year approaching, Josh is locked in on leading Smithson Valley back to the playoffs for the first time since 2020, stepping into a bigger role with maturity and confidence.
Josh plays with the Texas Bad Boys 17U and is looking forward to the Duncanville GASO live period as one of the premier events of the summer. His goals are to compete at a high level, gain more exposure, help his team go deep in every tournament, and stack write-ups while doing it. His motivation runs deep, big defensive stops, knocking down clutch shots, and proving people wrong fuel his fire. In adversity, he stays grounded, relying on God, trusting his preparation, and staying mentally composed.
His best advice was, “Hard work beats talent when talent fails to work hard.” And Josh lives it. Coachable, hungry, and always in the gym, he’s committed to doing whatever it takes to earn his shot at the next level.
I assess that Josh’s quick handle, three-level scoring potential, and tough-nosed defense make him a perfect fit for programs needing a high-IQ floor general who can run the show, knock down shots, and bring vocal leadership. He thrives in pressure and elevates those around him.
As he enters his senior season, expect Josh to explode onto the radar. With more minutes and a green light, his production and leadership will skyrocket. He’s a fierce, driven competitor who’s ready to lead, perform, and prove he belongs on a college roster. Stay tuned.
