Roy is an explosive athlete with a game built on speed, strength, and relentless energy. His length and athleticism make him a force on both ends of the court. He brings high-level defensive swagger every time he checks in, combining a strong motor with quick feet and solid handles to stay active in passing lanes and pressure the ball. Offensively, he’s a good scorer who can finish through contact, hit jump shots, and push the tempo with confidence. His natural gifts mixed with a strong work ethic separate him as a guard who coaches can trust to set the tone.
This past year, Roy's biggest improvements were his ball handling and shooting touch, adding more consistency to his perimeter game. His biggest point of focus now is to expand his footwork and continue to build his all-around skill set, ensuring that his athleticism is matched by polish. Already rewarded with offers over the summer, he achieved his AAU goal but remains hungry for more. He is looking forward to further development as he prepares himself for the next level.
What fires him up most is defense, stopping opponents, protecting the rim, and showing he can’t be beaten one-on-one. When facing adversity, Roy uses it as motivation, pushing himself harder and proving to himself that no obstacle can stop his growth. With a mindset fueled by competition and consistency, he plays every possession with an edge that demands attention.
Off the floor, he enjoys time with family and close friends, enjoying life while keeping his priorities grounded. The best coaching advice he’s received is, “Play your game, because you put too much work in to not play your game.”
I assess that Roy’s explosive athleticism and defensive intensity provide the type of edge that instantly impacts a college program. His ability to disrupt on defense, run the floor, and add scoring versatility makes him a well-rounded guard who can thrive in any system.
Roy’s blend of athleticism, defensive dominance, and growing offensive arsenal has him poised to be a player with serious long-term potential. As he continues to elevate his footwork and refine his scoring, expect him to develop into a complete two-way guard who can excel this season and beyond.
