Marco is a dynamic combo guard who thrives on attacking the lane with crafty blow-by speed and versatile playmaking. With elite ball-handling ability and excellent court vision, he dissects defenses like a master surgeon, creating open opportunities for his teammates. Marco has a high IQ and can score effectively himself on all three levels, even through contact. With a combination of speed and strength, Marco is a menace around the rim. Marco is a master of finding the right scoring opportunities for himself or others, even under pressure.
Last season in Italy, Marco averaged an impressive 20 points, 8 rebounds, and 5 assists per game. This season, competing against JUCO teams, he is putting up a solid stat line of 12 points, 5 rebounds, 5 assists, and 3 steals per game. His focus this season is on improving his shooting and point guard skills, while his confidence and leadership have significantly grown. Marco has also enhanced his mid-range game and his ability to create scoring opportunities off the bounce. His goal is to elevate his offensive contributions and defensive intensity, ultimately driving his team’s success. Adapting to the fast-paced and physical nature of American basketball has been challenging, but Marco believes he has embraced the transition well.
Marco's biggest basketball accomplishments include playing for Stella Azzurra Roma, one of Europe’s premier basketball programs, earning the opportunity to compete at the collegiate level, and facing professional players over the summer to prove his worth on the court.
What fuels Marco’s fire is making the right play and sharing the joy with his teammates as they push toward victory. When adversity strikes, Marco relies on a calm mindset, focusing on effort and attitude. He views challenges as valuable opportunities to grow and improve, and his gratitude for these moments keeps him grounded. The best piece of advice Marco has ever received is, “There’s no shortcut towards success.”
Outside of basketball, Marco enjoys reading, tutoring in English and Italian, and cherishing relationships with family and friends, even from afar. As he works toward his next-level goals, Marco knows it will take relentless effort, consistent improvement, and proving he can compete against high-level talent. He believes his work ethic, basketball IQ, and adaptability make him a strong fit for NCAA Division II or III programs. The balance between academics and athletics draws him to Division III schools, but he is also excited by the opportunities Division II offers.
I assess that Marco's elite ball-handling, court vision, and scoring ability impacts every aspect of the game. His ability to create opportunities for himself and his teammates, along with his focus on growth, makes him as a valuable asset with the potential to excel at the collegiate level.
