Tom doesn't try to play like anyone else because he believes his game stands on its own. He brings a smooth mix of scoring, playmaking, and rebounding while seeing the floor with confidence and making the right read when the ball is in his hands. Whether he is creating for teammates, knocking down shots, or controlling the tempo, Tom plays with poise and trusts what he sees. His confidence comes from knowing who he is as a basketball player and never feeling the need to copy anyone else's style.
This past season was another step forward as Tom averaged 15 points, 5 rebounds, and 5 assists while proving he could impact every area of the game. One performance stood above the rest when he finished with 18 points, 7 rebounds, and 9 assists, showing just how complete his game has become. While the numbers were impressive, what meant the most was seeing his overall game continue to grow as he became more comfortable making plays for both himself and everyone around him. Every game added another layer of experience and another reason to believe bigger things are waiting ahead.
The biggest improvement in Tom's game came mentally. He learned to slow everything down, read defenses instead of forcing the action, and think one or two plays ahead. Instead of relying on instinct alone, he began asking himself how to break a defense apart and create the best opportunity every possession. That growth helped turn his game into something much more complete, allowing him to stay under control while making smart decisions that consistently put his team in better positions to succeed.
Success has never come without adversity, but Tom has found motivation in a place many people would never expect. Since he was 15 years old, his parents have repeatedly told him to quit basketball, get a job, and that the game would never pay the bills. Rather than letting those words discourage him, he has turned every doubt into fuel. Every workout, every game, and every improvement has become another opportunity to prove that his belief in himself is stronger than anyone else's opinion. That inner drive continues pushing him to chase goals that many people would never attempt.
His offseason is built on consistency because he understands there are no shortcuts to reaching the next level. Every day includes training, every day includes the weight room, and every day is another opportunity to become stronger than he was the day before. Adding strength and putting on weight remain his biggest priorities because he knows those improvements will help prepare him for the higher level of competition waiting ahead.
When nobody is watching, Tom believes his work should look exactly the same as it does when people are paying attention. He takes pride in being one of the hardest workers he knows, refusing to let effort depend on who is watching. That commitment to staying consistent has become one of the biggest reasons his game continues moving forward year after year.
The faster, more athletic style of basketball doesn't change the way Tom approaches the game because he believes opponents should have to adjust to him instead of the other way around. He trusts his style, believes in his decision-making, and wants to dictate the flow instead of reacting to everyone else. If opponents can't slow him down while he plays his game, then he believes the advantage belongs to him.
Every time Tom steps on the court, he carries something personal with him. The desire to prove doubters wrong continues driving him every single day, giving him another reason to compete with confidence and purpose. Coaches can expect someone who plays with confidence, makes winning plays, creates opportunities for teammates, and refuses to back away from big moments when the game is on the line.
Tom understands that reaching the NBL or NBL1 will demand everything he has. He knows it won't happen by accident, which is why he spends time studying games, learning from professionals, working out with league players whenever the opportunity presents itself, and continuing to elevate every area of his game. That willingness to learn and prepare has become another important piece of his journey.
This upcoming season will be the biggest step of Tom's career as he prepares to compete at the highest level he has faced so far. He expects his game to keep rising, believes the work will show every night, and is determined to make this his best season yet. If his steady growth continues, there is every reason to believe his biggest basketball moments are still ahead of him.
I assess that Tom's greatest strength is his ability to control the game with confidence and intelligence. His scoring, passing, rebounding, and improved understanding of how to read defenses allow him to impact the game in several different ways. Add in his relentless work ethic and unwavering belief in himself, and he continues giving himself every opportunity to reach another level.
Tom continues building a strong foundation through consistency, discipline, and a mindset that refuses to be shaken by outside opinions. His willingness to improve physically, study the game, and trust his own style has helped separate him as he prepares for tougher competition. As he continues developing and gaining experience, expect him to keep raising his level of play while putting himself in position to pursue his goal of playing professionally. Stay tuned.
