Turner is a sniper who can make it rain from any spot he chooses. He possesses a silky smooth touch from downtown, however he can effectively attack off the bounce and is also a fierce finisher. He has strong ball handling skills which help him carve through a defense. If he gets a step, you will be part of his highlight reel. He is a strong finisher above the rim, and he can dish the rock to an open teammate. He is an absolute “team first” player who mixes it up on the boards.
This past season, he averaged 14.2 points, 3.4 rebounds, and 2 assists while shooting 50% from the field and 44% from 3 point land (1.8 makes a game) Those numbers earned his team a Conference Championship and him both All Conference and All State honors. He also finished with the highest 3 point percentage and Highest FT percentage on his team.
His team lost its three top seniors, and now more than ever, it is up to him to be that ultimate leader. He knows many teams will doubt his team because of those losses to graduation, so he is eager to prove all the doubters, haters and naysayers wrong. He is hungry and will be playing with a major chip on his shoulder. He is going to do everything he can to help his team make a state championship run.
He played AAU with All Arkansas Red, and his main goal was to go up against the best competition possible and to get as many eyes on him as possible from both college coaches and college scouts, which he was able to do. What fires this kid up the most is when he dunks on the opposing team’s tallest player. He loves hearing the roar of the crowd and feeling the gym get electrified with energy. He is a calm, cool and collected DOG, who is impossible to rattle with trash talk. He is fully aware that there’s always someone watching his every move on the court.
When asked what a coach can expect from him, he said “I will never fold under pressure. If someone wants to take a shot over me, I am going to swat it out of the air and make them think twice about shooting it next time. I will always give 110% and play with high energy and a team first mindset. I have a high game IQ, and I will never force a shot that isn’t there. I very rarely will make a turnover. I am humble, coachable and I can process changes quickly.”
His main goal is to play D1 ball, and my personal assessment is there is no doubt in my mind that he is ready for the next level. This season will tell us just how high he can fly, while playing against some of the best talent in the entire state. Now he is THE man. This is it. Senior Year. Every team he plays against will know who the first player is on his team who they have to focus on stopping. It’s going to be one hell of a ride!
