Grundy HS, VA

Kyle is a blend of size, skill, and versatility, an all-around player who can dominate inside yet handle the ball like a guard. He fills the role of a big man for Grundy, but his game stretches far beyond the paint. Offensively, he can score from anywhere on the floor, whether it’s facing up and knocking down jumpers, driving strong to the rim through contact, or creating off the dribble. His presence on the glass is relentless, crashing the boards on both ends to give his team second-chance opportunities. Defensively, Kyle uses his footwork, timing, and physicality to protect the rim, contest shots, and guard multiple positions. His ability to initiate fast breaks with his ball-handling and passing vision makes him a unique weapon that few opponents can match.

The numbers speak for themselves. Ranked among the Top 25 in Virginia in multiple categories, Kyle is the #2 player in D1 for points per 32, averaging 13.5 points per game, nearly 10 rebounds, and over a block per game. He has earned a reputation as a double-double machine, consistently producing at a high level on both ends of the floor. His development has been fueled by hard work, with the biggest improvements coming in versatility, strength, and basketball IQ. Offseason training has focused on expanding his offensive tools, improving shooting consistency, ball handling, and becoming an even more dynamic defender.

What sets Kyle apart is his leadership and mentality. He embraces every opportunity to improve, approaching the game with toughness, communication, and discipline. He thrives on the energy of executed plays, fired-up teammates, and hyped-up crowds, feeding off momentum to elevate his performance. When facing adversity, Kyle remains composed, maintaining a next-play mindset and keeping his cool no matter the situation. Guided by the wisdom of his coaches, he understands the value of mental toughness, composure, and sportsmanship, which carry him through challenges both on and off the court.

Though he hasn’t had local AAU opportunities, Kyle gained valuable experience in summer ball tournaments with his high school team, where his goals were focused on defending, winning, and overall growth. At the Roanoke Fall Shootout, he once again proved his value, averaging 12 rebounds a game and showing he could create his own shot or open looks for teammates. Looking ahead to his senior season, his focus is on leading Grundy with his teammates and pushing for a run to state, ready to give everything he has left at the high school level.

Beyond the numbers and accolades, Kyle's story is grounded in gratitude and family. Coming from a small town with limited exposure, he dreams of continuing his basketball career in college. His parents have sacrificed endlessly to support his journey, ensuring he has what he needs both on and off the court. Kyle’s drive is not only to succeed for himself, but to one day repay them for the love and dedication they have poured into his life. Off the court, he spends most of his time in the gym, working out, playing pickup, or staying connected with family and friends. Basketball is not just a game to him, but a passion, a purpose, and a future he’s chasing with everything he has.

I assess that Kyle’s versatility as a forward makes him a valuable asset for any program. His ability to rebound at a high level, defend multiple positions, and score from all three levels gives coaches a reliable presence who impacts the game in countless ways. His court vision and ball-handling at his size further separate him, showing the makings of a player who can adapt to different systems and excel at the next level.

With his combination of size, motor, and skill development, Kyle is poised to keep elevating his game. His leadership, relentless work ethic, and team-first mentality will continue to shine as he takes on greater responsibility heading into his senior season. Expect him to remain a double-double threat, expand his offensive range, and grow into a versatile college-level player who can anchor a team with toughness and consistency.
