Jude is a physical two-way stud that is fast and powerful on the run. Offensively Jude has great hands and speed to do damage after the catch. Whether it's bouncing outside or finding holes in the seams of the defense Jude is a big reliable target and safety valve. He gets solid yards after the catch. As a run blocker, Jude is quite a bulldozer clearing big holes. Defensively, his high motor and instincts are a perfect match for his speed and power. He can be like a runaway train in hot pursuit of his target with determination and purpose. On both sides of the ball, Jude's biggest attributes are his ability to read the field, his drive, his hands, and his effort on each down.
This past season 94 tackles (6lks for a loss, and 4 sacks), 2PBU's, and 2 forced fumbles. Offensively Jude had 22 receptions for 210 yards and 7 TDs. (154 yards after the catch) and 9 carries for 59 yards. He Earned Region 1-5A 1st Team All-Region. Jude's biggest improvement this year has been improving his skill set. Having Coach Pope on the sidelines has enabled Jude to get specific coaching related to the tight end position.
Losing in the 2nd round to Powell has pushed Jude and his teammates to make it further this year. They practice and play each down with the mindset of being better, quicker, and stronger. The focus and determination of this team are clear with every game played leaving no doubt they are on a mission and taking no prisoners in a dominating fashion.
Jude walks on that field prepared for his opponent. Always ready to hustle and play till the whistle. Jude's motor and determination to be there for his quarterback and his teammates sets him apart. Jude is a team player. The success of his team is more important than his stats.
Before the snap Jude thinks about everything he needs to do to make sure the play call is successful. It might mean throwing blocks or it might mean getting himself open for Coop. He is always thinking about doing what he needs to do to move the chains.
Coaches should know that Jude always gives maximum effort and will do whatever he can to help his team be successful.
Jude doesn't worry about what level he will be playing. That will all take care of itself. He just goes out there on Friday nights trying to play his best. Hopefully, college coaches will see something in him they feel can help their team.
For his teammates who are coming up behind him, Jude would tell them to be better than him. If you have the mindset to be better than the guy in front of you, you can’t go wrong.
Being on a team with as much talent as they have, Jude makes sure to be prepared when his number is called. As a TE Jude has different roles and he always wants to make sure that he is locked in and focused on what his assignment is in that particular play. Jude wants to make sure Coop knows he can count on him to do his job: running, blocking, or catching.
I assess that Jude is playing on such a loaded team some might underestimate Jude's value and impact. He is a high-level performer in his own right. On both sides of the ball, he is always ready to shine. His skills are seen and can thrive in the right system on the next level. Jude may not wow you with jaw-dropping numbers every game but his blue-collar impact will stand out. The energy and hustle are evident. The passion and willingness to sacrifice for the good of the team to win is first class. Keep a close eye on Jude the rest of the year as you all will see, he will be a huge part of their success. Stay tuned.
