McKae has developed into a lethal three-level scorer. McKae is a very efficient 3-point sniper but uses his speed and strong ball-handling skills to attack the lane for a wicked pull-up mid-range game or fierce finishes at the rim. McKae is a solid facilitator at running the offense. McKae is a rock-solid defender.
Last season, McKae averaged 11 points, 2 assists, 2.7 rebounds, and 2. steals per game while shooting a blistering 43% from 3 with a 56% EFG. The most motivating thing from last season that will push McKae to move forward was winning their section finals last year. This pushes McKae to get better every day so that they can win another one this year and go even further in open division state than they did last season.
Playing AAU for Lakeshow 3SBG 17u (played up a grade), McKae's goals were to win as many games as possible and get as many coaches as he could to watch them play. McKae was able to put on a shooting clinic while dropping dimes like candy at 5+ per game throughout the summer. McKae took his game to another level setting the stage for a huge upcoming season.
When on the court what fuels McKae the most is when he compares himself to his matchup and wants to make sure everyone in the gym knows who won that matchup by the end of the game. It’s a good way to get himself locked in, and he also gets even more fired up if the other team talks trash.
As a leader on their team, McKae tries to show as little negative emotion as possible when there’s adversity on the court and tries to help get his team together to move on to the next play and stay together.
A coach can expect McKae to take pride in everything that he does on and off the court and can expect him to lead a team and impact winning in whatever way he possibly can.
McKae sees himself as being a D1 basketball player but is always open to any coach who is interested in him. If a D2 was a better fit for McKae than a d1 McKae would go play for the D2. All that matters to McKae is how the culture is and how he fits in with everything at the school.
I assess that McKae showed flashes of just how good he can be as his skills continue to get better and better. The bigger the stage the more McKae shines. McKae is a proven leader and winner with a ton of potential with a very high ceiling to still grow as a player. Stay tuned!
