Will Thompson plays with a fearless edge and a team-first mentality. He is a well-rounded guard who takes pride in impacting every part of the game instead of chasing stats. Whether he is creating for teammates, attacking the basket, hitting shots, or making life miserable for opposing guards on defense, Will wants to do whatever gives his team the best chance to win. He describes himself as a player who is willing to do anything a coach asks, and that attitude has become one of the biggest strengths in his game. His relentless defense, leadership, willingness to dive for loose balls, and determination to put his body on the line separate him from the crowd because winning has always been more important than personal recognition.

Will had an outstanding season, and he serves as the captain of the Senior Basketball team. He averaged 16.4 points, 7.4 assists, and 4.5 steals per game in Australia's VJBL Metro 2 while showing he could control the game on both ends of the floor. Every game became another opportunity to lead, create offense, pressure opposing guards, and help his team win. His biggest accomplishments weren't just the numbers he produced but the growth that came from consistently competing at a high level while becoming a more complete player. Every assist, every defensive stop, and every hard-earned victory continued building confidence that his game belongs on bigger stages.

The biggest improvement in Will's game has been his mindset, and that change has completely elevated the player he has become. Earlier in his basketball journey, confidence was something he battled with. Whenever he missed a shot or made a mistake, he would sometimes lose belief in himself instead of trusting the work he had already put in. Everything started changing last September when he began training at Baller Academy under former professional player Joe Hooks. Working every day in a college preparatory basketball environment along with DI prospects challenged him in ways he had never experienced before. The high-level coaching, intense training sessions, and constant competition pushed his game forward and played a huge role in the growth he experienced throughout AAU competition. The biggest lesson he learned was if one shot doesn't fall doesn't mean the next one won't. He realized that nobody truly knows the hours, sacrifices, and work he has poured into his game better than he does. That realization gave him the confidence to trust himself, believe in his abilities, and play without hesitation. Once his mindset changed, everything else started falling into place, allowing him to play freer, compete harder, and perform with the confidence that he belongs against the best players every time he steps on the floor.

Will believes his style of play fits the American game because he embraces competition instead of running from it. He welcomes the faster pace, the physical play, and the daily challenge of proving himself against talented players. Rather than worrying about the transition, he's excited by the opportunity because he believes he has already played some of Australia's best talent, and those games have consistently brought out his best basketball. He knows there will be adjustments, but he also knows that his work ethic, willingness to learn, and commitment to doing the little things will earn him the trust of coaches and teammates.

Long before the lights come on for game day, Will is already putting in the work that most people never see. He knows opportunities are earned, not given, and he is determined to make the most of every single one that comes his way.

He believes he is ready to make an impact in the United States because he has already competed against many of Australia's best players, and those games have consistently brought out his best basketball.
