Some teams spend all season chasing attention, but TNBA Select spent the season chasing improvement, and somewhere along the way, they became impossible to ignore. While others collected headlines, Coach Pinkston and his group quietly built something far more dangerous. They built a team. Not a collection of scorers, or a collection of stars, but a team. Every practice, every game, and every challenge became another brick in a foundation built on toughness, trust, sacrifice, and winning basketball. By the time people started paying attention, TNBA Select had already become one of the toughest groups around.
Everything begins with Coach Pinkston. His vision was never centered around points, rankings, or recognition. His message was about becoming separators. In a basketball world packed with talented players chasing the same dreams, what are you willing to do that others won't? That challenge became part of this team's DNA. It showed up in the effort, the accountability, the chemistry, and the way these players played for one another. The result was a brotherhood that became just as important as anything that happened on the scoreboard.
The starting group brought a little bit of everything to the table, and together they fit like pieces of a puzzle. Bernard Gnjatic served as one of the steadying forces of the team. A lethal perimeter shooter with defensive swagger and an unselfish approach, Bernard constantly made winning plays that often go unnoticed by casual fans. Loose balls, defensive stops, extra passes, hustle plays, and timely shots all became part of his normal routine. His impact goes far beyond what showed up in any stat sheet.
RJ Neal brought the spark. The explosive guard attacked games with fierce energy, athleticism, and confidence. Whether flying downhill toward the rim, making shots, creating opportunities for teammates, or making life miserable for opposing guards defensively, RJ brought a level of intensity that could completely shift momentum. When TNBA Select needed juice, RJ often supplied it.
Carter Turks gave the lineup one of its most versatile weapons. His ability to score from all three levels, rebound with authority, defend multiple spots, and bring a nonstop motor created problems all over the floor. Carter played with a blue-collar edge that fit perfectly within the team's identity. Some players impact one area of the game. Carter found ways to impact all of them.
Colin Goldie filled the role every successful team desperately needs. The gritty wing stretched defenses, battled on the boards, embraced difficult defensive assignments, and consistently made the little plays that help teams win. Colin never allowed adversity to steal his energy. Whether shots were falling or not, his effort, toughness, and willingness to sacrifice never changed. Every championship-caliber team needs a player like Colin, and TNBA Select had one.
Preston Johnson completed the starting group with a silky smooth combination of leadership, shot-making, playmaking, and basketball IQ. The rainmaker from deep could light it up from the perimeter, but his game went far beyond shooting. Preston handled, facilitated, attacked openings, and constantly made smart decisions. His versatility allowed him to impact the game however it needed to be impacted on any given night.
The depth behind the starters only made this team stronger. Luke Galfidi brought the perfect combination of floor general instincts and aggressive scoring ability. His high IQ, athleticism, playmaking brilliance, defensive toughness, and ability to control tempo gave TNBA Select another player capable of changing games in multiple ways. Luke could hurt opponents with a dazzling pass, a strong drive, a tough defensive possession, or an explosive finish that ignited everyone in the gym.
Evan Skrtic delivered a different kind of value. His game was built on speed, intensity, toughness, and relentless energy. Evan created problems because he never stopped competing. Deflections, rebounds, hustle plays, steals, and extra possessions became his specialty. When things became difficult, Evan never backed down from the challenge. Instead, he leaned harder into the dirty work that helps teams win basketball games.
Colt James provided another dangerous weapon capable of changing the flow of a game. His scoring instincts, confidence, competitiveness, and toughness gave TNBA Select valuable production whenever his number was called. Colt played with an edge that opponents quickly noticed, and his willingness to embrace team-first basketball while continuing to expand his overall game made him another important piece within the rotation.
What made TNBA Select special was not simply talent. Plenty of talented teams exist. What separated this group was their willingness to put personal success on the back burner for collective success. Several players came from programs where they carried major offensive responsibilities, yet when they came together, egos disappeared. The extra pass mattered. The hustle play mattered. The defensive stop mattered. Winning became the common goal, and that mindset allowed everybody to thrive.
One lesson continued showing itself throughout the season: finishing matters. Coach Pinkston challenged his players to finish possessions, finish quarters, finish games, and finish every challenge placed in front of them. As the season moved forward, that lesson became woven into the fabric of the team. The growth showed in difficult moments, close battles, and the way this group continued responding when adversity tried to stand in the way.
Despite injuries, scheduling conflicts, and limited opportunities to practice together, TNBA Select continued finding ways to compete, improve, and win. Their resilience, toughness, and commitment to one another carried them through obstacles that could have easily derailed other teams. Instead of making excuses, they kept moving forward.
Long after the final game is played and the final score is forgotten, the thing these players will remember most will not be wins, losses, trophies, or recognition. They will remember the laughs, the road trips, the support, the relationships, and the brotherhood they built together. TNBA Select became living proof that when talented players put aside individual agendas and fully invest in each other, something special happens. They may have started as the team nobody watched, but they became the team nobody could ignore.
