Speed grabs your attention, but Tristan's football IQ is what truly makes him dangerous every time he steps on the field. He understands how plays are supposed to develop, knows where he needs to be, and uses that knowledge to put himself in position to make big plays. Even without being the tallest receiver on the field, he makes up for it with explosive speed, dependable hands, sharp instincts, and the confidence to attack every opportunity. Once the ball is in his hands, he becomes a threat to score from anywhere, turning routine plays into game-changing moments while giving his team an explosive weapon they can count on.
Tristan put together a strong junior season, finishing with 47 catches for 831 yards and 8 touchdowns while averaging an impressive 18 yards per catch. He also piled up 1,529 all-purpose yards and 12 total touchdowns, proving he could impact the game in several different ways. Even with those impressive numbers, Tristan wasn't surprised by what he accomplished because he believed in himself long before anyone else did. While many players would have been satisfied with that production, he admits he was disappointed after missing out on All-State despite finishing among the conference's leading receivers. Rather than dwelling on what he didn't receive, he turned that disappointment into motivation to keep raising his level.
One of the biggest reasons behind his breakout season was the work he put in before it ever began. Between his sophomore and junior years, Tristan dedicated himself to becoming faster, more explosive, and more complete as a receiver. The arrival of a new coaching staff also helped him see the game differently, giving him a deeper understanding of coverages, route concepts, and the little details that separate good players from productive ones. That combination of improved speed and growing football knowledge helped elevate every part of his game.
Before every snap, Tristan is already studying the defense. His eyes immediately go to the outside linebackers to see what they are keying, then shift to the safeties to read their leverage and depth. As the cadence begins, he watches for linebackers creeping toward the line and corners rotating into different coverages. If he sees an opening, he and his quarterback, Jacob, already know what comes next because of the chemistry they have built together. That connection allows them to react without hesitation and attack defenses before they have time to adjust.
One of the biggest challenges Tristan faced last season came when injuries forced him to move from wide receiver to quarterback for several games. Instead of seeing it as a burden, he embraced the opportunity. Playing quarterback gave him a completely different view of the game, strengthened his leadership, and helped him understand offensive football on a much deeper level. When he returned to receiver, the experience made him a smarter player because he now understood exactly what his quarterback was seeing on every play.
This offseason has been focused on becoming stronger, faster, and even more dangerous. Tristan has worked hard to add muscle so he can handle the physical side of the game while continuing to improve his speed and agility to create more separation in his routes and make defenders miss in open space. Individually, he wants to continue growing into the best player he can be, but his biggest goals revolve around his team. Staying healthy, building chemistry across the roster, and proving the doubters wrong have become driving forces as they prepare for the upcoming season.
Football has always been part of Tristan's life, and that passion fuels everything he does. He doesn't need extra motivation because the game itself is enough. His focus every day is taking care of his body by eating right, staying hydrated, avoiding distractions, and making sure he is prepared whenever his number is called. That commitment reflects the way he approaches every practice, every workout, and every Friday night.
After finishing 3-8 a season ago, Tristan knows many people are counting his team out before the season even begins. That only adds more fuel to the fire. He believes fans are going to see a team that competes with confidence, plays with purpose, and surprises a lot of people. Personally, they can expect him to play every game with everything he has, leaving the field knowing he gave his absolute best on every snap.
Every coach can expect a player who understands his responsibilities, embraces leadership, and competes with confidence every time he steps on the field. Tristan believes in leading by both his actions and his preparation, and once the football is in his hands, he trusts himself to make something special happen.
I assess that Tristan brings an exciting mix of speed, football IQ, reliable hands, and big-play ability to the offense. His understanding of defensive coverages, chemistry with his quarterback, and ability to create explosive plays make him a dangerous weapon. His willingness to step into different roles while continuing to improve physically adds even more value to his game.
Tristan continues to develop into a complete playmaker who combines athletic ability with a strong understanding of the game. He embraces responsibility, competes with confidence, and constantly looks for ways to improve. With another offseason dedicated to becoming stronger and faster, he has positioned himself for an even bigger senior season and the opportunity to help lead his team well beyond what many people expect. Stay tuned.
