Playing up against older competition can either expose weaknesses or force a player to evolve faster than everyone around them. For Denym, it’s become one of the biggest reasons his game continues expanding into something extremely dangerous. Every challenge, every physical battle, and every matchup against older players has helped shape him into a confident, versatile, and highly skilled rising weapon capable of impacting the game from multiple levels.

Every time Denym steps on the floor, one thing stays constant. Effort. Relentless effort. He competes with a mindset built around trust in his preparation and confidence in the thousands of shots and reps he puts in behind the scenes. Whether the game requires him to score 20 points, dominate the boards, defend multiple positions, or simply bring nonstop energy, his mentality never changes. Do whatever it takes to win.

That selfless approach, mixed with his growing offensive versatility, is exactly why his game has been exploding lately

Playing up for years taught Denym how to use his body far beyond his age. Battling older, stronger players forced him to learn positioning, timing, and physicality earlier than most young players ever have. Those lessons now show up every possession, whether he’s eating up space for rebounding position, finishing around the basket, defending physically, or creating angles offensively

.

During his season at New Trier, Denym had to quickly find his footing at the varsity level while stepping into a starting role. That experience became a major confidence booster because it proved he could compete and succeed against high-level varsity competition. Once he settled in and trusted himself, his confidence carried over directly into AAU with Elevate, where the momentum only continued to grow.

That confidence exploded during Elevate’s undefeated 4-0 live period weekend, where Denym continued showing why his stock keeps rising. Averaging 15 points and 6.5 rebounds per game on the UAA while playing up is serious work, especially considering how much his overall offensive game has evolved. Instead of operating strictly as a traditional big man, Denym has transformed himself into a legitimate three-level threat capable of stretching defenses far beyond the paint.

His ability to step out comfortably to the three-point line, score the smooth middy, and still punish teams inside has made him increasingly difficult to guard. During live period play, everything started clicking together offensively because he was finally able to showcase the full package at once. Defenders now have to respect him from multiple spots on the floor instead of simply crowding the paint.

Out of every part of his game, Denym takes the most pride in his shooting ability. Considering he started basketball later than many players his age, developing a consistent jumper became a major challenge early on. Instead of avoiding the work, he attacked it relentlessly until his shot became a real weapon. Now his touch and shooting range are major strengths that separate him from many players his size.

One of the biggest improvements in Denym’s game has come mentally through his decision-making speed. During the high school season, there were moments where he held the ball too long or reacted slowly in certain situations, which led to turnovers and missed opportunities. Instead of getting frustrated, he studied those mistakes and worked hard to improve his ability to make quick reads and split-second decisions. That growth is now showing up consistently during AAU as the game continues slowing down for him mentally.

Adversity also played a major role in shaping Denym throughout the season. New Trier went through a frustrating stretch where losses started piling up, and momentum became difficult to regain. Those moments tested the team mentally, but they also revealed the importance of communication, leadership, and staying connected during difficult stretches. For Denym personally, the adversity helped strengthen his mentality and taught him how important positive energy and togetherness become when things are not going smoothly.

Heading into the offseason, Denym’s focus remains locked in on becoming a more complete all-around player. He’s attacking his shooting consistency, ball-handling, strength, athleticism, and overall versatility with the goal of impacting the game in every possible way. That hunger to improve continues fueling his rise because he clearly understands how much potential still remains sky-high

When coaches come watch Denym compete, they can expect energy, competitiveness, communicon ation, effort, and a player willing to do whatever is needed for the team to win. They can expect a highly skilled big with touch, footwork, range, and the versatility to affect games in multiple ways while continuing to grow more confident every time he steps on the floor.

I assess that Denym’s offensive versatility immediately stands out because of his ability to score from multiple levels while still bringing size and physicality inside. His combination of touch, shooting range, rebounding instincts, and footwork creates difficult matchup problems for opposing defenses. He has also developed strong confidence in his perimeter game which continues opening more dimensions offensively.

Another major strength is his willingness to embrace development and learn from mistakes. His growth in making quicker decisions and processing the game faster has elevated his overall effectiveness significantly. Combined with the experience gained from consistently playing against older competition, Denym has developed maturity and physical toughness beyond many players his age.

Denym has the tools to become a very impactful modern big because of his expanding skill set, shooting ability, and versatility offensively. Players with size who can stretch the floor, rebound, defend physically, and continue improving as decision-makers create major value within today’s game. His confidence and willingness to compete against older talent have also accelerated his development.

Moving forward, expect Denym’s game to continue taking major steps as his body gets stronger and his all-around offensive skill set keeps evolving. The combination of size, touch, range, competitiveness, and work ethic gives him a very high ceiling, especially as he continues to polish the finer details of his game and gain more high-level experience.
