Basketball teams are always searching for players that make winning easier. Players who do not need the spotlight, do not need the ball in their hands every possession, and do not need plays called for them to impact the outcome of a game. Colin Goldie fits that description perfectly. This gritty wing from Highland High School has developed into the type of player every coach loves having on the floor because he consistently does the little things that often decide games.
Colin brings a versatile game that shows up on both ends of the court. He stretches defenses with efficient outside shooting, mixes it up on the boards, guards multiple positions, and embraces the physical side of the game. While some players measure success strictly by points, Colin measures it by making winning plays. Whether that means knocking down a timely three, securing a key rebound in traffic, locking down a difficult defensive assignment, or bringing energy when his team needs it most, he is willing to do whatever the moment requires.
That approach helped him put together a strong junior season at Highland High School. Colin averaged 8 points per game while shooting a blistering 40 percent from beyond the arc. His ability to consistently space the floor made him a valuable offensive weapon, while his toughness and versatility impacted games in ways that often do not show up fully on the stat sheet.
Despite coming off the bench as Highland's sixth man behind a veteran starting lineup loaded with four seniors (2-5), Colin made his impact impossible to ignore every time his number was called. One of his biggest moments came in an explosive 18-point performance where he rained in 5 three-pointers, helping Highland set a school record with 18 made threes in a single game. Whether starting or coming off the bench, Colin consistently provided valuable minutes, instant offense, and a spark of energy that helped fuel the team's success. His ability to stay ready, embrace his role, and deliver in big moments speaks volumes about both his confidence and his team-first mentality. His efforts earned him Honorable Mention All Suburban League American Conference Division II honors and placed him among Medina County's shooting leaders.
The confidence gained during the high school season has carried directly into AAU basketball with TNBA Select Ohio HGAL 2027. Colin has continued building on his strengths while producing at an efficient level. His current 60 percent effective field goal percentage speaks to his ability to take quality shots and make smart decisions offensively. He continues to provide strong rebounding, physical defense, and efficient scoring while helping his team compete at a high level.
One of the biggest areas of improvement in Colin's game has been his overall efficiency. He has become more consistent as a shooter while continuing to expand the ways he can impact a game. His defensive physicality has also taken a major step forward. He embraces difficult assignments and takes pride in making opponents uncomfortable. That willingness to compete possession after possession adds tremendous value because coaches can trust him to bring effort and toughness every time he steps onto the floor.
Despite his success, Colin remains focused on growth. He understands that the next step in his development comes from expanding his offensive bag. His offseason focus is locked in on improving shot creation, attacking closeouts, tightening his ball-handling, and finishing through contact. Those additions could make him even more difficult to defend because opponents would no longer be able to focus solely on taking away his perimeter shot.
What stands out most about Colin is his mindset. He does not allow offensive ups and downs to dictate his energy or effort. When adversity hits, he focuses on controlling what he can control. He stays positive, moves on to the next play, and continues contributing however possible. That maturity allows him to remain productive even when shots aren't falling, because his impact extends far beyond scoring.
The moments Colin enjoys most are not necessarily tied to individual numbers. He finds satisfaction in competing, making winning plays, getting defensive stops, securing key rebounds, and helping his team succeed. That team-first mentality is becoming increasingly valuable in today's game because winning programs are built around players who understand their role and maximize it.
As he continues developing, Colin's potential remains very intriguing because of his combination of size, toughness, shooting ability, and versatility. Players who can defend multiple positions, stretch the floor efficiently, rebound their position, and embrace physical basketball always find ways to help teams win. With continued growth in his creation skills and offensive versatility, Colin has the opportunity to elevate his game even further over the next several years.
I assess that Colin is a strong, physical wing who brings value in multiple areas of the game. His ability to shoot the basketball efficiently from deep immediately creates spacing for an offense, while his rebounding and defensive versatility allow him to impact games without needing a high volume of touches. His willingness to embrace difficult assignments and make winning plays adds another layer to his overall value. He understands team basketball and consistently contributes to winning.
College programs are always looking for dependable players who can fit with different types of talent, and Colin possesses many of those qualities. His shooting ability, physical size, defensive toughness, and team-first approach make him a player who can complement a roster in multiple ways. As he continues improving his ball-handling, shot creation, and finishing ability, his ceiling continues to rise. Moving forward, expect Colin to keep evolving into a more complete offensive player while maintaining the gritty, winning habits that already make him such a valuable piece on the floor. Stay tuned.
