"The Floor General With A Full Tank"

5'8 1/2, Class of 2027

Booker T. Washington Magnet HS, AL

Every time Jalen steps on the court, he brings the kind of steady floor game every coach wants, running the show. He is tough, unselfish, vocal, and competitive. The type of guard willing to pick you up 94 feet, take care of the basketball, create for teammates, and still go get a bucket when the lights get brighter. His game is not built around flash but impact, winning plays, tough possessions, big moments, and energy that spreads through the whole team.

This season pushed Jalen into a much bigger role as the lead guard, and he answered the call, averaging 10 points, 6 assists, and 1 steal per game. He became the engine that kept everything moving. Whether it was controlling tempo, getting teammates involved, or stepping up offensively when the moment demanded it, he continued showing he could handle pressure and responsibility. One of the biggest moments of his season came during the area tournament when he exploded for 16 points, including 10 in the 4th quarter, helping lead his school to its first area tournament appearance and playoff clinch in years. Those are the moments that stick with people. Moments where a player refuses to let the opportunity slip away.

That postseason run also brought individual recognition, as Jalen earned All-Tournament Team honors in the 5A AHSAA Area. But beyond the awards and stats, the biggest thing that took a step forward this year was his leadership. Becoming more vocal. Taking command. Understanding when to settle the team down and when to attack. Those little things separate guards. Anybody can dribble the ball up the floor. Not everybody can lead a team through pressure, adversity, and momentum swings.

One thing about Jalen is physical basketball does not rattle him. He stays calm when games get chippy and intense. He does not let adversity speed him up or knock him off balance mentally. That calmness allows him to continue making reads, creating opportunities, and staying aggressive no matter what the defense throws at him.

Offensively, Jalen plays with balance. He looks to attack scoring opportunities when they are there, but he also understands getting teammates involved opens the game for himself too. That ability to play both scorer and facilitator gives his game another layer. He can get two feet in the paint, make plays for others, or finish himself. He plays with control instead of forcing the action.

Heading into AAU season and the offseason grind, Jalen is chasing another level in his game. Becoming a true three-level scorer and improving his shooting are major priorities. But the work behind the scenes may be the most impressive part. Doing two workouts a day, six days a week, along with conditioning, competing, and pushing himself to become the hardest worker in his class. That hunger to separate himself shows exactly how serious he is about his future.

When coaches watch Jalen play, they are going to see effort immediately. They are going to see toughness, energy, unselfish basketball, and a guard that competes on both ends. They are going to see somebody who stays coachable, keeps positive body language, and does the little things that help teams win games. Guards who can lead, defend, create offense, and stay composed are always valuable, and Jalen continues proving he belongs in that conversation.

I assess that Jalen is a steady lead guard that impacts games with toughness, pace control, and unselfish basketball. His ability to handle pressure, create offense for teammates, and defend full court gives him value on both ends. He plays calm under adversity and competes with high energy every possession. His leadership took a major step this season, and his willingness to embrace a bigger role showed maturity in his game.

Jalen’s biggest potential comes from his all-around approach as a guard. He can facilitate, attack the paint, defend, and control tempo while staying composed in big moments. As his shooting and three-point scoring continue to improve, his game becomes even tougher to defend. His work ethic, conditioning focus, and coachable attitude give him a strong foundation moving forward. Stay tuned.
