"The Flamethrower That Left The Gym In Smoke"

Ayden Harvey

@aydenharvey

6'4, Class of 2027

Clear Brook HS, TX

AAU: Miles Select/NXTPRO

When Ayden catches fire, defenses start adjusting. The smooth combo guard turned heads during live period with one of the coldest shooting displays in the building, and once his confidence started rolling, it felt like every clean look was automatic. Deep threes, catch-and-shoot bombs, pull-ups off the bounce, and transition triples. It did not matter. Ayden was letting it fly with confidence and leaving defenders scrambling possession after possession.

Ayden describes himself as a confident three-level scorer who can shoot from deep, play off the catch or dribble, and make smart reads while bringing energy on both ends of the floor every time he steps on the court. That complete approach to the game has helped him continue growing into one of the more intriguing guards in his class because he does much more than simply stand around looking shots.

Ayden takes tremendous pride in his shot-making ability, confidence, and efficiency. Those traits exploded during live period with Miles Select where he delivered one statement performance after another against high-level competition. One of the biggest performances of the weekend came when he exploded for 25 points while raining in 7 threes and shooting an efficient 9-13 from the field. Every time he created even the slightest bit of separation, the ball seemed destined to snap through the net.

Ayden followed that performance with another huge outing against YPG, scoring 22 more points while continuing to stretch defenses. Throughout the weekend, his confidence stayed sky high, his teammates continued trusting him, and the rhythm he found offensively became almost impossible to cool off.

What made the performances even more impressive was the efficiency behind them. Ayden was not forcing shots or hunting numbers. He simply stayed within the flow of the game, trusted his work, and let the offense come naturally. That confidence, along with his size and ability to score at all three levels, created matchup problems all weekend long. Defenders had to respect him far beyond the three-point line, but once they pressed up too aggressively, he showed the ability to attack off the bounce and make smart reads.

Those live period battles also taught him something important. According to Ayden, competing against high-level players throughout the weekend proved to him that he belongs in those environments and can thrive against strong competition. That confidence matters because once players truly believe they can compete with anybody in the gym, another level of aggressiveness and freedom starts showing up in their game.

That confidence has been building since the high school season at Clear Brook. Ayden averaged 10.1 points per game while shooting an impressive 56% from the field and scoring double figures in 12 games throughout the season. More importantly, he believes the season helped him grow tremendously as a player while becoming a much more efficient scorer overall. One of the biggest improvements he made was consistency and fully trusting his game every night. That growth is now carrying directly into AAU where his offensive confidence looks completely different than it did a year ago.

The season was not without adversity, though. Like every athlete chasing growth, Ayden faced difficult stretches throughout the year where things did not always come easy. Instead of allowing frustration to take over, he focused on staying mentally strong, continuing to work, and trusting the process during challenging moments. That maturity helped him push through adversity while continuing to improve instead of losing confidence.

Now the focus shifts toward taking another leap this offseason. Ayden’s biggest priorities right now are getting stronger, tightening his handles, and continuing to elevate every area of his game while competing with Miles Select throughout the AAU season. The hunger to improve daily continues to drive him because he understands that consistency and development are what separate good players from players capable of taking over games.

Coaches watching Ayden can expect confidence, shot-making, toughness, and a player unafraid of big moments. They can expect a guard that stretches the floor, competes hard, plays with energy, and keeps believing in his game, no matter the stage or opponent standing in front of him. And when that jumper catches fire, the entire gym starts feeling it.

Ayden is a long, confident combo guard with tremendous shot-making ability and strong offensive versatility. His ability to score at all three levels, especially from deep, immediately stands out. He plays with confidence, efficiency, and composure while also showing the ability to impact the game beyond scoring. His size, perimeter shooting, and growing offensive feel make him a difficult matchup for defenders.

Ayden’s confidence and scoring ability continue evolve, especially with the consistency he showed during live period. His ability to shoot both off the catch and dribble gives him strong offensive value, while his size allows him to create matchup problems on the perimeter. As he continues getting stronger and tightening his handles, his overall game has the chance to elevate even more. Guards with his confidence, efficiency, and shot-making touch are always valuable, especially when they continue proving themselves against high-level competition the way Ayden did throughout live period.
