6’6, 185 lb, Class of 2027

George Rogers Clark, KY

Montez is a versatile guard/wing who embodies the definition of a complete player. With the length to cover the floor and disrupt on defense, and the skill to create offense in multiple ways, he has established himself as one of Kentucky’s top 2027 prospects. A proven catch-and-shoot sniper, crafty playmaker, and selfless competitor, Montez plays with the kind of edge and poise that allows him to impact every possession. His ability to rebound, defend, shoot, and facilitate makes him a force who always finds a way to contribute. Coaches can count on him to do the little things, bring toughness, and play to win.

Last season, Montez averaged 12.7 points and 7 rebounds, and his shooting, once a weakness, has become one of his biggest strengths. Now, his focus is on tightening his ball handling and expanding his basketball IQ. The sting of losing in the region championship has fueled his work ethic, pushing him to come back stronger and hungrier. Already holding DI offers from Akron, SEMO, EKU, and Morehead State, he’s far from satisfied. He recently earned Top 20 All-Star and Top Performer honors at the NextUpRecruits Camp, further proving his stock is rising. Montez is motivated by the competitive fire of his teammates, looks forward to playing at Rupp Arena, and continues setting higher goals with each step.

Faith is at the center of who he is, with God being the most important part of his life. That foundation allows him to handle adversity with resilience, reminding himself that every trial makes him stronger. Off the court, he enjoys video games, but on the court, his relentless motor and selfless style make him one of the most intriguing prospects in Kentucky’s 2027 class.

I assess that Montez’s length, versatility, and selfless approach give him the ability to elevate any program. His defensive impact, rebounding, and improved shooting provide a combination that college coaches love. He can fit easily into a system while still standing out for his ability to change games on both ends.

With multiple DI offers already in hand and his game still evolving, Montez is just scratching the surface of his potential. Continued development in ball-handling and IQ will only raise his ceiling, and his competitive spirit ensures he’ll keep climbing. Expect him to become a name to watch nationally as he embraces every challenge and opportunity ahead. Stay tuned for a breakout season ahead.
